Interview advice

Make sure you have a few questions to ask if they ask you "is there anything you'd like to ask?" at the end.

Questions that show a genuine interest in the position/ team (by which I mean workforce in the area you'll be involved with). (how big is the team? etc.)

Also depending on how well the interview process is explained to you, could be a good idea to ask about further stages or when you might expect to hear a decision by etc.)

It is important to show a genuine interest in the position you are applying for.

Good luck, don't forget it's an opportunity for you to find out if you like them too - interviews work both ways.

Also - Well Done for being invited in - it means your CV is what they're looking for (anything they're concerned about will be a point of discussion in the interview). Really the interview then becomes about whether you're the kinda person they want to work with - so relax and be yourself. If you're not yourself, you may find yourself in a job that you don't suit, or they may not be hiring the person they think they are!

i've randomly/coincidentally just been looking at motorsports (read F1) jobs too, though i'm no mechanic or engineer unless it involves computers ;) ... Lotus F1 are recruiting heavily it seems, i'll find you the list of jobs if you're interested.

on average I interview one person a day.

I ask people to take me through examples that demonstrate the skills / attributes that I am looking for

If the candidate is too vague i dig a little

I generally put people through to the next stage if they appear competent and can answer my questions reasonably well

Questions I typically ask are

what research did you do prior to this interview
what is it about our company that makes you want to work for us
tell me examples that demonstrate your skills for this role

Also, think of some sensible questions that you would like to ask them about the company and your role.

All great advice, one further thing is to ask for feedback after their decision (whether you are successful or not). Some large companies offer this automatically. Good luck!
