International Car Rental

Has anyone ever rented a car in the UK and taken it across Europe? The standard web sites I have tried seemed to be travel in a single country only, i.e. no cross border.

I need another car to travel to France during the ski season next year and do not want to fly.

that seems crazy, assumed you have talked to the big boys like avis etc

Indeed. They all assume you fly into some airport and drive only in that country.

Maybe they were just nice to us Military guys in Germany.

you just need to phone them (the big boys) as we used to do it when i was working at the uni to get to meetings in N France and Belgium as sites used to be in the sticks and it worked out cheaper and quicker than eurostar or flying.

Unfortunately i cant remember who. National maybe?

Plenty of smaller local outfits that will allow this for a bit of a premium.

The latest one I called wanted a £50 one off charge + £35 per day !!! Madness.
