Internal door handle trim colour recommends

I’ve sprayed a few in the past to restore some scratched door handle trims. I used star silver and they can came out well.

Just wondered if anyone else has tried other colours. Perhaps closer to OEM?

I’ve never managed to lacquer chrome spray successfully. It always goes dull.

The chromeline trim is chrome with a lacquer on it. Enuff_zed removed the lacquer on his steering wheel to reveal bright polished chrome. He posted a picture in the 'what have you done to your car today thread.

Will see if I can find it, maybe a chrome paint with a coat of lacquer maybe the right finish?

Scratch the above. Re-read his post and it was actually the standard silver finish which had the chrome underneath.

No idea how chrome is able to be lacquered. It would be nice to know as I'd like to paint some steering wheel spokes to resemble a chromline finish.

I may have written it wrong then. I think it was the chrome line that I cleaned off. Came off a 3.0i.

At the risk of creating a carbon copy (ha!) of my Tiefgruen UK cousin; I had mine skinned in carbon fibre and clearcoated (no wrap, actual carbon). I also did the instrument cluster to match and eliminate all the silver from the interior. As you can see, I went for satin black on the door pulls. They can be dismantled by removing the hinge pin with a small tap

You’ll be relieved to hear this is for the Monaco roadster :) even more that I’ll not be treading your carbon look on the Tiefgreun.. if I ever get it back!!

Ah in that case, another vote for the gunmetal grey shown above. Think it sets off really well against the Monaco Blue

I went with Rover Gunmetal Grey, picked at random from the Halfords rack:

That works really well. Thanks for the idea 👍🏻

Nice job! Did you find you really had to take back the chrome to get a nice finish? Mine were quite scabby beforehand.

Exactly that!! I redid them three times. I got to P3000 grit but there must have been some reaction to where there scratches in that plastic coating were. Finally went right back to chrome and they sprayed well.
