Intermittent roof problems

ok, you've changed you mind so I'm just going to take it to someone to have a look. Thanks for your efforts though
 
As I say, you've taken a u-turn after speaking so confidently about microswitches so I'm going to just take it to a recommended garage.

I appreciate you taking the time to offer up your thoughts though
 
Quick update this morning.

So I disconnected the battery for 5 mins, reconnected and the roof now worked perfectly. The whole process is smooth and there's no errors anywhere.

I might check the battery charge today as I know a bad battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins

You can easily identify its age, as a date can be found on the minus pole of the original BMW batteries (mm/yy, 07/09 is from july 2009).

Changed mine when a couple of roof opens without the engine running started to go wrong..
 
All good again today. Roof worked beautifully, although I had an "excess battery drain" warning pop ups this morning so looking more and more likely to be the culprit

Sounds better than dealing with broken wires in the roof harness :thumbsup:
