Intermittent ignition problems.

My e85 Z4 has run like a dream since I bought it back in May. She absolutely destroyed through 3500 miles of Motorway on my summer road trip from Manchester to Croatia. She'd never missed a beat.

Sadly, as she nears 100kmiles mark, it seems like I may have pushed my luck too far...
Got in the car the other day, twisted the key, the car ticked, turned over, and cut out...
The lights were all lit up and the music was playing but the engine had ceased running. It felt as if the car had stalled because the key was at the 3rd point, but I hadn't let off the clutch yet.
I removed the key, waited a few seconds and made a second attempt. This time it just kept ticking and didn't turn over at all. Again all the lights lit up while I was twisting...
LUCKILY on the third attempt it started and we were off.

Later that day, a similar occurrence, and it took me 3 attempts to get going. (Really annoying because I was in McDonalds car park and all the chavs in their 'naff old Saxos, who'd previously looked at me with envy, were laughing their arses off!) :headbang:

Taken it into an independent BMW specialist near me, turns out both the camshaft and crankshaft sensors are buggered. £245 for the repair including labour and VAT. :(

There's no real purpose to this post, hopefully someone will search for the above symptoms and find the solution that worked for me. ( I say 'worked', I haven't collected the car yet but I trust these guys.)

Anyone else had any similar issues?
