Intermittant wipers

I think I have a problem with my intermittant wiper function. 1st position up = intermittant operation with an adjustable thumbwheel. Mine will wipe once and that's it. I told the dealer a few weeks ago about it and he went to take a look. When he came back he said my car had a rain sensor and there probably wasn't enough rain to trigger the wipers. I sort of bought that and went on my way. Today, just for grins I decided to put the intermittant wipers on and sprayed water from a hose on the windshield to see if they would work. I'm assuming the sensor is on the other side of the rear view mirror. Still nothing. When I click to the first position the wipers make one pass, but that's it. The car is going in for service on Monday so I want to get everything straightened out.
So my question is--------am I doing something wrong or is there a problem?

Mine takes ages to turn on, but once on they seem to work ok. Most the time I have to twist the knob to get them going - as the screen is dangerously covered with water.

The manual will tell you that if you leave them up in position "1" and the wet conditions stop, the wipers will stop and you will probably have to twist the knob to get them going again next time it rains. The knob is how you adjust the sensitivity of the intermittent wiper. If you click to make the wiper start while you are spraying, they should keep going (if the water is still flowing onto the window.

it sounds like it is the rain sensor doing its job. just turn the knob once and it'll move the wipers once. then they'll only function when water begins to hit. they wont wipe as much if you're at a stop.. but they'll be continuous as soon as you begin moving again.

good luck with the service!
