Intermittant Windscreen wipers

Hi Guys, forgive me if this has been abswered but I've googled this and only get answers to problems with Automatic Windscreen Wipers and this does not help.

My car has the wiper control on the right, one up for intermittant, again for slow and again for fast. There is a rotary control in the wiper arm to adjust the interfal in intermittant. - I hope I've got this right BTW its an UK 06 3.0s Coupe.

If i put my control in intermittant mode, it is effectively the same as slow, the wipers will do two to three full swipes then a very short (2 sec max) delay and then another two to three swipes. the rotary delay control does not have any effect.

If someone could please assist me it would be very useful as living in the uk we use our windscreen wipers a lot!

The car can be coded to different wiper interval settings
WISCHERINTERVALL Wiper interval. 3_sec / 5_sec
But it works off the rain sensor

I've had about 10 BMWs over the years and have never found that the 'dial' has any effect on the delay at all. I have no idea what it is supposed to do, if anything :lol:

my Dial does nothing either... 1 up on lever is rain sensor operation, 2 up is continuous normal, 3 up is continuous fast
I assume the dial is used if rain sensor operation is not fitted to the car.

RE rain sensor operation on mine seems patchy and inconstant - sometimes it works with said amount of rain on the windscreen and sometime it don't.

If you have a rain sensor, the dial is supposed to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor, the interval will always be variable depending on the amount of water hitting the sensor. The problem seems to be the least sensitive is plenty sensitive, so higher settings appear to not have any effect.

Without the sensor, one would think it adjusts the interval, but my car has a sensor so I couldn't know for sure.

Mine hasn't got rain sensors either and the rotary works fine for me as well.

Thanks for all your help. I actually think it is rain sensing but as advised its extremely sensative so seems like there on full time in this mode.
