Intermediate service.. Dealer or Indy?

So it's year 6 and intermediate service is required.

Brake fluid.
Oil and filter.
Microfilter.

Bmw Stockport quote £300
Darren Wood Stockport (Indy) quote £240

I'm keen to save cash but until this point it has a full BMW dealer service history and I wonder if I should stick with that as its only £60 more.

For £60, I'd stick with BMW - although I'd probably phone them first and try to get them to move a bit closer to the Indy pricing

+1, as you will lose any goodwill from BMW if you stray now.

Still using BMW for my Z3 for servicing and MOT :o although I was tempted this time around to use a indy.

PVR, out of interest why would you lose BMW's goodwill? I'm assuming on an extended warranty. I would have thought so long as you use a VAT registered garage using BMW genuine service items then BMW would still honour any warranty claims?

Warranty is not goodwill, which is anything not covered under warranty

Warranty is not the same as goodwill though.

My M was out of warranty, but BMW paid £1k towards a repair under goodwill. Rules of goodwill is that you have to have a 100% perfect trackrecord with BMW servicing.

With my 740, I received a goodwill replacement windscreen washer pump and the climate controls were losing dots in their digits - all fixed at 6 years old under goodwill (no warranty on the car).

Thanks pvr, I was thinking goodwill and warranty as one of the same but see what you mean now.

I know with the Z3 which had the diff mounting bracket failures BMW did repairs as a goodwill gesture on cars upto 10 years old, after that they didn't want to know :)

Result, official dealer quote is down to £281 (for oil/filter/microfilter/brakefluid). That'll do.
Beating them over the head with competitive prices often works

Excellent result. Big change compared to 10+ years ago when a price was a price from a dealer and they would never budge.
