Interlagos blue or black?

Narrowed down my search for a Z4M as either interlagos blue or ruby black (the black being a year younger and pricier - but same mileage / spec). Interlagos probably rarer but black classier? am struggling to make up my mind and looking for some help to tip me over. My previous Z3 was metallic topaz blue......just thought I'd sound out opinions..... :?

Both very nice... very good choice of colours.. Think i would be happy with both but at a push it would be the black! If its younger too thats a bonus

Cheers Tom. The younger model isn't due for another service (according to dealer) for another 9K miles and the older version just 1.5 so that could swing it......

The Ruby Black will require more cleaning than the Interlagos Blue one - so if you're into detailing the Ruby Black one will show the greatest difference between dirty & clean.

Interlagos is not rare on an ///M. There are about 320 Interlagos Blue ///Ms, compared to about 80 Ruby Black ///Ms.

Ruby Black was also available on the non-///Ms though, where Interlagos Blue wasn't. So if you include all Z4s then Ruby Black is used on about 450.

If you want a rare colour, then go for Sepang Bronze.

Well if you like the blue then you could try and swing the service before you buy it. Pretty poor IMHO to sell a car that is not really ready for you to drive away with it. Depends where its being sold tho, I got mine and BMW did the service 2 for me for free because it was close and I said I wouldn't buy the car without it.

Problem with BMW paint is that its quite soft and the black cars are renowned for swirls and scratches. My previous car was a carbon black and it was bad for it but looked fantastic in the light. My grey Z doesn't show any marks at all but grey isnt for everyone, it doesn't shine in the same way but I fancied a change.

Cragswinter has just bought a Z4Mc in Ruby Black, gives a really nice red glow

What are the interior colours on the two you are looking at?

Don't think you'll go far wrong with either- both look great, combination with interior can be important, and if that all ticks and still undecided I'd go with best spec/age/milage as the differentiating factors

Good luck with the test drive. Should excite more than the scoobie, but you'll have to treat with more respect.

Thanks again guys. The black is all black interior and interlagos is cream/black. Think the servicing will probably close the deal...I always feel slightly evil in the scooby (converted snob however) as it's a joy to drive and the thrust a treat (first experience driving in the snow en route back home from dropping hubby at airport so a little nervous but it's a good 4-wheeler too) but once you get it you're off, I love it! Can't wait to see how the Z4M compares :D

Cheers again for all your help, happy driving everyone and loving the cars

Love both colours but Ruby would be the one I'd take home :)

You will be delighted with whichever one you chose, absolutely awesome !!

I personally prefer the blue/ cream interior to black/ black.

Also while Ruby black maybe rarer... 90% of the time (as in when the sun isnt out!) it will looks the same as saphire black and carbon black... Black is black after all.... so taking that into consideration the blue is rarer :P

interlagos Blue. Check put my profile posts for the reasons why. Looks so sweet with the colour of the rear light cluster and champagne leather interior. Ruby would be my second choice but the blue IMO 'feel's like it's more of an ///M to me for some reason.

Think I'm right in saying the Interlagos was the launch colour too btw.

Good decision to have though

I would go for the Interlagos because it is am M colour.I t looks very nice with a few good coats of wax and looks different shades in different light conditions.

Look at both in real life and decide which one you prefer, imho IB can look a bit dull if the sun isn't shining, but when the sun comes out it looks great.

Black is the better alrounder but is a little predictable it's all personal preference really.

So have you picked yet?

I say... the Interlagos Blue. It looks unusual. My favourite colour is Black though and the Ruby Black is delicious. But think Interlagos swings it on this occasion as it's an M :driving:
