Interior Vinyl Wrap - Help

Morning all :)

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of wrapping some of the interior on a Z4 e85?

My central console trim (the whole piece that surrounds the gear stick) needs sorting. It’s a brushed aluminium effect at the mo. When I bought the car I noticed that it was badly scratched, so I thought I’d get it wrapped.

I’ve called a few places, with no joy. One specialist said you can’t wrap the brushed aluminium sort, another says you can, but I’d need to remove it myself.

Ideally I’d like to take the car somewhere, have the interior sorted, pay, and then leave.

I’m in Bristol - let me know if you have any top tips or connections. Thanks everyone.

Removing the centre console is a huge job, the entire console from behind in between the seats right through to the buttons for the roof etc need to come out. I've done it a few times now and the more you do it the easier it is....I always follow this guide:

My advice would be to do the work yourself removing the pieces and then drop them off at the vinyl wrapping place.

EDIT - and yes the aluminium trim can be wrapped, loads on here, including myself, have done it. :thumbsup:

If you want someone who has done it before loads of times, Capita Customs (look her up on Instagram) has a Zed herself and I've seen she has wrapped several other peoples Zed interior trim pieces. You could probably ship the items to her as she is based in the North.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll get checking on some vids how to do it. Is it as tricky to do the dash trim also?

Dash trim is relatively easy. There is a metal clip behind the far end of the dash, that you need to remove (you need to take out the passenger air vent, 2 screws, to get to it), then remove the centre air vent (two small metal tags at the top of the inside of the vent that you need to push with a screw driver to release). Then just unscrew the four screws holding in the radio and unclip the cables. After that You simply prise off the dash and driver side trim gently. Can be done in 10 minutes, but the metal clip behind the dash can be a bit of a b@gger to get out.

Very easy to wrap these parts, but use a hairdryer on a fairly hot setting to form the vinyl, otherwise when the weather gets hot it may 'pull' and seperate from the trim pieces (don't ask me how I know this!).

Hope it all goes well, very satisfying when complete. :thumbsup:
