Hi guys:
I have to replace some plastic parts of the interior trim of my beloved 03 2.5i. There is a part at the center back, just in the middle that I can’t find the number or even the name, because is not listed on the diagrams or BMW Fans website.

Could you help me identify and look for this part?
Thanks!,

Interesting. This is part number 51473422963 - Trim panel upper part (Schwartz). According to RealOEM it is for E86 only.

You won’t find #16 on your car, as it’s a coupe only part.

Usually, if you find a number greyed out it means it’s not applicable to your car…much as #12 on that diagram is not applicable to coupes…probably due to the roof mechanism.

Its surprising how some parts are just a mystery. For example I was trying to find out about a trim piece from the centre console. I got as far as

identified as part 12 in that diagram but no detail in the table below it. Its the curved piece in the little well just in front of the handbrake. Anyone got any clue on that one?

Its definately in all the photos I have seen unless I have somehow navigated to the wrong section of the site for a Z4M E86?

I think you may have as Part 4 is for an Auto, and there were no Auto Ms.

I was trying to identify this very small curved panel between gearstick and handbrake...

Anyone got any ideas?

Wow thanks, that was quick. Is there a particular source that is good for the Z4M. Seems like gone are the days of the old Haynes manuals on my book shelf telling me everything.

Strangely this is 'not applicable' to the Z4M :o

I just use BWMFans or RealOEM - but it takes a bit of 'luck' or foreknowledge to find the correct diagram.

Well thats odd because its in every Z4M photo of the area I can find. Its not cheap either, blimey. Its only about 4 inches by 3 inches piece of plastic at a guess but a parts website wants £45 for it :o

Don't worry. As our cars age, you'll find all the trim pieces that break are unobtainable or just very expensive.

Went through the same with my e34 M5 where some trim pieces were available at £300, just not available, or poor quality 2nd hand ones at £200.

Modern 3D printing has helped a lot, but there's no chance I could 3D print a champagne leather humidor for the back armrest :P
