Interior Styling Dilemma, Opinions Needed.

I have been slowly rejuvenating a Merlot red Z4 and the plan was to replace the beige interior. I have changed the interior to black and sticking to the original plan have beige seats with beige door cards.

The next step was having piano black centre console and when I have time wrap the aluminium dash trims in black leather. The interior currently looks like this:

Now I have recently managed to get a set of Cirrus aluminium trims:

Do I stick with black leather on the dash trims as the original plan or use the cirrus instead?

Personally I don’t think the cirrus works with those seats. Too many different colours and styles in a small cabin

That sounds like a great car!

Merlot is my favourite colour on the pre-facelifts and I really don't like black interiors when other colours were available, especially in a small interior like the Z4 has.

Before my Z4 journey began I had a 123d with Piano Black and loved it, but my 2nd Z4 had Cirrus which I also loved and it is probably rarer. It reminded me of the engine-turned finish in pre-war Bentleys.

Might be just me but I'd want all 3 parts Piano Black, leather wrapped or cirrus rather than 2 different finishes. Then I'd be happy with any of those three alternatives.

This is my feeling, good to have reassurance :)

I'll try the dash pieces in leather first and then wrap the centre console in leather if it doesn't work. The dash trims in bi-coloured leather with piano black centre was an original option so we'll see.

I must say the centre console in leather in my other Z4 is one my favorite parts of the interior but just wanted to try something different.

Black leather or even piano black

All piano black could be an option but I only have 2 of the 3 pieces so it's looking like leather it is

Black leather for sure!

Do you have interior LEDs in that night time photo?

The photo was taken with only the standard interior lights on. My S23 phone is great at taking night time shots, pointing the phone at a pitch black field will produce a photo looking like dusk.

Oooo, that Cirrus trim is quite fancy, I've never seen that before. As Tidy says, like the engine-turned parts from Bentley.

Have you considered alcantara for the dash trim, instead of leather?

I think over the winter I'm going to try some interior changes to brighten it up a little.
Coloured seatbelts and maybe some body colour somewhere.

Have you got some spare piano black trims to potentially sell [ref]Usel[/ref], ?
PS definitely leather over those Ali trims. 👍🏻

Personally I love Cirrus! If I had a non M thats what I would love to have that option.

I think merlot and beige/cream is a better combo. Personally im not a big fan of black interiors and would steer away from them. I had it in my first coupe and it was so dark that it made the cabin feel quite claustrophobic! Plus evvvveeery car has a black interior and in a weekend 2 seater I think having something out of the norm is more acceptable. As a daily with my kid black all day 😂

That being said mine is imola on imola so very niche and also not a popular choice with only 4 being brought to the UK  That being said because of the way they made the coloured interiors its more like two tone and think it looks really nice.

Unlike Porsche who cover everything in the one colour and you have to pay a considerable amount more for two tone! This is my dad's Porsche Boxster 981 GTS who is also a big red interior fan. I rather like it too.

My God! That porker interior is like visiting the local brothel! (Errr, or so I'm told. )

I think thats the key. Whatever is your favourite my preference would be consistant throughout. Next question would be more generally do you prefer leather or not. That narrows things down a lot.

I test drove a M135i years back with a black interior and it felt so dark and closed in. I ended up going with a cream interior which really helped lighten up the cabin and it felt a nicer place to be. Flip side is that it showed up wear much more clearly than a black interior.

I'd be sticking with the cream interior. Black is pretty boring and obviously very dark.
We have a Champagne with Montego Blue on the Z4.
Also Coral Red and Estoril Blue on our 340i Touring.
The 340i divides opinion, but honestly, it's stunning. Such a great contrast.
Black is soooo boring.

I'm currently perusing the 330e Touring market as a possible replacement for the 340i, everything is black interior. :(

I agree with Tom and Meds - anything other than black suits me!

I've had Ruby Black with Pearl Grey, Montego Blue with Pearl Grey (and Cirrus) and Silver Grey with Imola Red in my Z4s and really liked them all.

My current E90 is Sparkling Graphite with Beige, previous E91 was Sparkling Graphite with Lemon - only slipped up with previous E46 325ti and had a Black interior but I couldn't resist the Imola Red paint!

This is an epic combo and glad im not alone!!

If I won the lottery I would buy a Z4M coupe and have it resprayed Estoril as it's my fav BMW colour and have imola red seats. Love that combo! Also have all the expensive OE mods done to it. Think about doing that way too much

Yes it's a fantastic combination. 'Superman' spec.
I'll miss it when we swap the 340i next year as I know I won't find something as appealing to look at.
Contrast interiors are where it's at.

My wife tells me I have absolutely no taste when choosing colours. I think she is probably correct in her judgement. My favourite colours are darker red for the 85/86 and walnut for the E89.

The headlight control surround is RHD, but aren’t the Cirrus dash trim and handbrake surround for a LHD car?

The dash trim is definitely RHD, looking at the mounting for the radio and comparing the edge around the instruments with the installed photo.
The centre console section has a cut out for the airbag light but not one for the sport button, so probably came from a 2.0 or 2.2.
