Interior - seats, harnesses, wheel

On the alternative seats thread there were some questions raised about my seats and how the harnesses fitted, so here's a few pics ...

Seats:

Harness - shoulder strap mounting:

Also just had the steering wheel re-trimmed, alcantara with M stitching and silver top stripe (to match harnesses):

And finally black radiator grilles (bought ages ago from JE and finally fitted):

Those seats and the retrimmed wheel look incredible. Really wish I had my wheel retrimmed as soon as I got my car, definitely going to do that with my next car.

incredible is not a word i'd use! So you removed ///M sports seats for these....

Should of spent your cash on that front bumper & the steering wheel trims mate :?

I'd get some thin rubber trim to go around those cut out bits.

I can see it's function before form though. Looks great.

No, it had Pole Positions in before, I've never had M Sport seats, but would certainly have removed them for the Tilletts yes.

And as for the wheel trims, yes, I'd like to get those done, but Royals, who did the wheel, couldn't do them so didn't worry this time.

And I agree the front bumper is in a state, but really ... I just don't care ... I could get it repainted and then a few track days later it'll look like that again.

PS it's "have" not "of"

They look great, im curious about a couple of things, why did you change from the Recaro's? Are they comfortable for distances? Do they work well with the standard seat belts?

Im also wondering why you picked the z4 as a track toy instead of something lighter, are you enjoying it? I would not have thought about using a z4 as a dedicated track car but if it's good their, it's probably my kind of car. Any feedback much apreciated.

the steering wheel and seats looks totally ACE, i LOVE LOVE those tilets so special. For the side pieces if i was you i'd cover in some sort or carbon material or actual carbon and never look back.

Nothing wrong with using this as a track / road warrior thats all the GT3's , cayman Rs , GT4s are offering tbh.... He's just doing it from a cheaper base point, these cars are mega capable on the track when prepared correctly. The sprint scene i run it is timed on your own laps one car on track at any given time, so unless you crash your car will always look as good as you came. If anyone wants to get into track work sprinting is such a great scene, very competitive and often on small tight technical circuits that often take some skill to navigate quickly, I've grown up in them and just love the hole sprinting ethos.

Love the Car OP. Apart from the bumper all the pics of the car I've seen it looks pretty bloody mint.

what are the anchor points screwing into???? Do you have any pics of it all with the plastic off??

Regarding the Pole Positions - in my car at least they didn't fit very well, the passenger seat fouled the door slightly. I also thought they were really too big for the cockpit generally. Pole Positions, like most high sided buckets did not work that well with regular belts, however, the Tilletts are very low at that point and work perfectly with inertia belts.

Regarding why not something lighter, well I've had an Elise and it was brilliant but I fancied a change. The real downside for me, of very light cars like the Elise is they are *really* noisy and wearing on long journeys. I do track days in Europe a fair bit and I'd be utterly knack erred by the time I got there in the Elise :D

As Beedub says, it isn't a million miles from a GT3, though it needs a fair bit more setup to get reasonable performance from it; especially in the suspension dept.

Looks good -steering wheel re- trim looks great. Seats look great .

  for developing a light weight racer and not worrying about its modern classic status

Cheers. Though it's really not mint, don't know if it's just my car but the paint seems really soft and has lots and lots of swirls, scratches and other blemishes. The whole front end is stone-chipped to hell. Still that will partly be because of all the track days and autobahn driving.

Sorry missed this. No I don't have any pictures like that, but they are very simple - holes drilled through the bulkhead, with an FIA backing plate for the eyebolt to screw into.

They look like lovely things. I drilled my holes into the bulkhead behind the bass speaker in that cavity. I liked the fact that they are impossible to see, and also that when I am running harnesses for td I can shove them all in the cavity for the journey there and back.
Once td over, the speaker goes back in, 5 min job.
You're right about not many seats fitting the z4 cabin, my Sparco just clears the door by mm.
My front bumper is also a mess :D
