Interior Rattling

Hello again!

My current problem with my zed is that SOMETIMES when driving down a normal road I will get a rattling coming from the interior. I think it is coming from somwhere in the space from behind the steering wheel to the drivers window. It tends to only appear over 2000 rpm (I assume this is something to do with the vibrations from the engine). I have tried to locate the rattle but simply cant. I once knocked the unit that holds the cup holder completely out of its socket and now pulls out without having to be unscrewed (not sure if this is normal, it doesnt fall out, you need to give it a good tug). I have tried holding this panel in place when the noise is present but it has no effect so I have come to the conclusion that it is not connected. Does anybody here on this wealth-of-knowledge-forum have any ideas what it could be? Obviously if it's something easy I would like to fix it myself rather that get raped by Williams.
Thank you in advance

I found lots of small rattles in that area.

Took both vents out, padded between all panel gaps with Velcro and refitted. Removed rattling cupholder and coated in wd40. Also put Velcro between windcreen and dash but not sure if this is still needed.

Other place to check it the strut brace to the bulkhead, it's not un common for these nuts to come loose giving the rattles you say from the interior.

Mine is rattling from around the airbag emblem on the drivers door. Starting to get beyond acceptable. Any suggestions. I suspect it will have to be a door card off job.

Have you tried popping the airbag emblem off? There's a screw behind here that holds the door card in place, maybe that's come loose?

Job for the weekend
No, it's a 2 minute job. I have the same rattle from around the lock.

These rattles are one BIG thing that let the Zed down. Interior quality is just VERY poor for a car which can cost upwards of £40k.

I'd agree there, the Mk7 Fiesta Zetec S I had before the Zed didn't rattle at all.

I have a facelift model (I don't know if they tried to address any of the rattles in the facelift but I hope they did) and there's a few creaks and rattles from the interior, the most annoying one is my passenger window rattling over bumpy roads - I've checked the screw at the bottom of the window itself behind the door card, which was mentioned on a thread on here regarding rattling windows eventually leading to them failing, and it was tight. The window itself feels secure, so I'm assuming it's rattling against the rubber seal at the top of the door unless anyone can suggest any other screws which may need tightening?

I found quite a few rattles from the footwell. Stopped them from rattling using some paddded tape the type you get to stick your number plate on with. Also found my rear view mirror glass rattles but havent woked out away od stopping that yet.

I found the problem. When my car went in to an indy for cosmetic repair he seemed to of left me a small sheet of sandpaper under my bonnet. Wind was making it flap around. Sorted!
thanks for all the help anyway!

I think I've almost found them all now. Plastic in the passenger footwell was the latest culprit, fixed with bubble wrap behind it. lol
