interior rattle

Has anyone come up with a fix for the soft top release button between seat hoops ? mine is almost always rattling, tried everything I could think of, each plan works for about 2 miles then it starts again grrrrrrr !!! :headbang:

Mine used to squeak like a demented budgie but I had all the centre console and dash out recently so I could carbon wrap it. Upon reassembly I liberally sprayed all the centre cubby lock/hood release mechanism and all mating surfaces with GT85 (Teflon) spray and now not a sound ! My door panels, hood release, seat backs/bases and windscreen surround have all squeaked, rattled or creaked but not anymore. GT85 sorted the lot. I have used it on most cars I have had over the years. Superb stuff !

How long does the GT85 last for?

Need to spray it again?

Have not needed to respray any car except the dash on a MG TF my wife once had. The trick is to run the spray along any joins/ interfaces or mating surfaces then leave it for a few minutes and wipe off the excess. The spray evaporates and leaves a Teflon coating behind. Has always worked for me. :D

good idea cover my bike in GT85 before a blast in the summer, get home spray the front with a hose all the flies fall off
will give it a go tomorrow cheers

You could just remove the latch mechanism itself as it has a tendency to rub on the roof lining when the hood is going up and down, leaving a mark and potentially will wear through the lining.
The release latch isn't fitted to later E85s. Post 2006 cars I believe don't have it at all, so its not really necessary.
You could then just glue the button shut and it wont squeak. This is what I did on my 2005. I had both the squeak and a wear mark on my roof lining so I though I would just get rid. There's a thread on here somewhere with a "how to".
