Interior plastics

What's the best thing to clean the interior plastics with?
Should the top of the dash be black? Is there something to restore it with?

My car has a sort of creamy/brown interior and it's showing the grime like an old beige CRT monitor so have been wanting to give it a good deep clean. The hood I plan to use the autoglym stuff

Can tell you this much, the black plastic panel (A panel, console, etc.) are painted with a rubbarized black paint. The parts are black UNDER the paint, but it is painted. So be careful because I made the mistake of thinking they were just straight black ABS, wiped them with lacquer thinner (to clean some stuff off) and ended up with a real mess on my hands. Ended up having to take the "paint" entirely off the panels and re-spray them.

I've always used the meguires #40 vinyl and rubber treatment as it's not shiny, sticky like the original armor all. Always best to wipe down with a clean towel after any dash treatment to remove any remaining liquid. Especially with the rough texture of the zed's dash cover. As it will then be a dust magnet. With the smooth plastic. Sometimes all that is needed is a wipe with a damp cloth.

i struggled for weeks & tried many products (including the meglars ) but the autoglym plastic/rubber cleaner does what we all want it to .
no stains/smears or tacky feel . brings the dash & door tops back to new . http://www.amazon.co.uk/Auto-Glym-500ml-Vinyl-Rubber/dp/B001151E5I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351018297&sr=8-1

+1 Also use it to treat all the rubber seals on the doors, hood etc

I cleaned the seats/leather bits with the leather cleaner and then treated them with the leather balm and then I did the drivers door and some of the plastic bits on that side around the seat back/down in the footwell etc using the auto glum stuff and tbh I'm a bit disappointed as you can't really tell. I asked her indoors if she could see any difference and she couldn't.

I think it's a bit cleaner looking but that could just be placebo effect. the smoother plastics were quite grimy and they are better for sure but not as much as I expected. The more rough stuff just seems the same. Even the cloths wernt that dirty.

Not sure what to do next really. Prob just a bucket of soapy water and a cloth/brush first and some poor boys dressing to finish.

It was a but if a damp squib effort that day as I couldn't get my wheels off to do them with the cleaner/sealer either as the jack wouldn't fit either

Meguires interior detail works a treat my interior looks brand new with it.

You can use it on the leather too, made my steering wheel look like new.

Now I'm proper pissed off! Some dumb twat has put their fire on in my street without getting the chimney swept and the car is covers in ash! What a chuffing mong >: it's covered in white s**t including the hood. Looks like a bird got the Bombay squits at 20k feet and decided to carpet bomb the street!
