interior mods w/pics

With the help of some forum members and all the helpful posts (search function is your friend), I was able to complete the mods I wanted to do.

I added the MFSW controls and the paddle shifters. I had the spokes covered in black leather.
I covered my aluminum pieces with silver carbon fiber fabric, and I decided I'm going to do my door handles also.
I changed the centre and rear consoles to add a two tone look (the ALL beige interior was starting to get to me). I like the flow of black from the dash down through the console then back up the rear to the black top.
I think the leather on the door cards changed to black would look good also, but I understand it is a hellish job removing the leather from the rest of the door.
I added black floor-mats and the black leather armrests from LeatherZ.
I left the beige gear shifter to see how I liked it with the black, but I don't think I do like it so I will change it to black.

And while I had all the consoles out, I thought I would add the AUX cable. I used the one for the Mini and installed it out of sight.

looks good. have you thought about covering the gear shift housing? I have my done, you can barely see it though. I have also seen tan to black dye jobs that turned out great. I think two tone door panels would look fantastic.

How hard was it to remove and refit the steering wheel spokes do you need to remove steering wheel ? as i would like to spray mine satin black

If you havent removed before I would allow a couple of hours, the hardest parts to remove are the two nknee pads which hold the car together (well thats how they have been designed) as there are around 8 clicps from memory that hold each one on, way OTT and a pain to remove.

Rest is easy just take your time so you dont wreck anything as it wont be cheap to replace.

A vendor on Zpost sells the fabric, It was under $100 for 2 yards which is enough to do it 3 times over.

The centre console isn't that bad. It's the rear console, which has to be removed in order to remove the centre console, that I found to be the tricky one.

The steering wheel should come off if you don't want to risk breaking the tabs inside the spokes. Disconnect the battery for at least half hour before removing the airbag.

I think that going down the two tone door panel route would work very well. Would look good if you could carbon wrap the auto box housing to match up with the centre tunnel (or was that not possible???)

JUST THOUGHT, you need a carbon fibre steering wheel badge or why not go for the whole set to tie the in and outside together!

I didn't take any pics because there or some out there already. If you run into trouble or are uncertain about a step, just take a pic and post it with a question and I am sure someone will be able to help out.

They've held up quite well. I've had them painted for two years and I haven't noticed much wear, if any, from the top rubbing against it. I think they should hold up at least five years, probably more, before I would consider getting them resprayed. Not sure If extra clear coat would help. I tried to take some pics, but wasn't able to get any decent resolution shots.
