Interior light not working and looks burnt

It doesn't look like others have this problem but my interior light unit is not working and looks burnt, crispy and charred! Probably after years of having the top down and the sun hitting the interior.

I've found replacements so it as easy as simply pulling the current unit down and plugging the new one in and pushing it back up?

I'll take the opportunity to upgrade the unit to the one with map lights and change them to LEDs too :thumbsup:

Hi,

Looks like someone in the past has fitted a higher wattage, and therefore hotter running bulb - Still quite a bit of heat damage though, must have been like sitting in a lighthouse when you opened the doors :o .

Don't think that would have anything to do with having the roof down as it's not in direct sun light.
 
Hmm OK, I'll have to investigate further but I suspect the whole unit will need to be replaced by the looks of things.

So is it as simple as prising the current one off, unplugging it, then slotting the new one in?

Well I fitted this interior light:

but the map lights don't work. Could this be because the car doesn't already have the wiring for the map lights and didn't come spec'd with the Comfort Pack? (I think it was called).

The orange fibre optic mood lighting works as well.
 
Could be, hard to tell without looking carefully at the wiring, a bit of clever internal bypassing of wiring could make the map lights work !
