Interior LED lighting dimmer

Does anyone know (not guess, or assume) if the dimmer on the light switch is by voltage or PWM?

I've never seen a manual dimmer control but, as when you unlock/lock the car, the interior lights fade up/down there must be a dimmer circuit in there somewhere....

I have to reset it every time I clean the inside of my car... Not that that is very often right now...
