Interior cup holder?

I watching a vid on youtube, this one, (which shows all Alpine White owners their mistake :o :P )

and the guy whips out a cupholder from the glovebox at (16mins 30secs) which slots into the side of the centre console on the passenger side. I'm guessing this is a retro fit? Anyone know for sure? Would really like this as didn't spec the the extended storage which includes cupholders in the armrest which to be honest I wouldn't use a cupolder in that location anyways. This one sits in a better location.

Tim, haven't watched the clip but if the cup-holder that fits the centre console is like the one on 6 series, unfortunately, they don't do one for RHD cars.

Thanks navid, that would be a real shame :cry: but looking at the size of the cupholder I can see now why its for the American market :roll:

One thing im not too impressed with on the E89 is the location of the cupholders, drinks can be quite awkward to get to when on the move. They were perfectly placed on the E85.

They're roughly in the same location as on the 1 Series (old model), I had the extended storage pack with the 2 cupholders just in front of the armrest but you needed to be double jointed to use them, so didn't bother speccing for the Z4.

I wish they did a 6 series type here. The centre armrest is too awkward with it up and a drink in there.....

Its a pity BMW don't do a flip out cupholder from the dash so the cup is where you want it in front of you and flips away when not required.

This is how they are on the E85 models, and can be adjusted according to cup size.
 
I honestly can't recall when I last needed a cup holder in the car... don't see what the fuss is about...
 
Yeah, the guy in that video is annoying, and considering its meant to be an in-depth review, he didn't show the boot (sorry, trunk) with the roof up - when I was thinking of my z4 it was the boot size I asked to see first, so he does no favours by only showing it with roof closed.

Cup holders....had the ones that come out from the dash on my e90, but the passenger one would take your kneecap off if you forgot to close it before getting out...but the drivers one was fine...and thats all that really counts!!!

As Tim said, the ones on the 1'er are in same position. They're not the best location, but I get on with them with my Maccy D's coffee.

I wonder if that clip on centre console one could be adapted to RHD?
 
Yeah the guy in the video does have a slightly annoying voice, but having said that its about the best vid I've seen showing the car etc, rather than all the vids of plonkers doing drifts and doughnuts, Would agree he boo boo'd not showing the boot space with the roof up it was the one thing that put me off the MX5 Coupe with only 150 litres space.

The new 4-cylinder engine looked so small in the engine bay. I'm so happy with the straight six in my Zed. :D

To be fair it is lighter and pushed back further thus giving it more balance. Plus it's more fuel efficient and just as fast as the 6 it replaced. I am a bit biased though. :P
