Interior colour options

Some of you will have seen IAmOrion's excellent thread detailing his interior colour change from beige to black and red. If you haven't I suggest checking it out.

So stealing a leaf straight out of his book, it's given me a few ideas of my own. Having just overhauled my dash and center console I haven't made my mind up yet whether or not this would be a good idea, but I was thinking something along the lines of this:

I wasn't sure if black would be as easy to cover so I got in touch with the same place IAmOrion used and they sent a couple of samples over in the two colours I'm contemplating. To test I cut up an old hand brake gaiter and sure enough the black is easy to cover (It's actually dark navy but close enough). What I am having trouble deciding is if I did this, would good old fashioned white be too bright? In which case Ivory is the next shade down, but I'm concerned that Ivory may end up looking a bit beige.

The two test colours came out as follows:

bright lighting, no flash.

I'd love some other peoples opinions to help make my mind up IF I go ahead with it.

Thanks.

Its a tough one this - so many factors: the shades on the computer screen will look different in the flesh and different in natural light and different under flash or focused lighting. Light grey would seem the way to go because the ivory may, as you say, look beige under certain lights. Light grey seem to be the wrong name for something that looks more like off-white, which may work better as a contrast to the black.

I think you're right, ivory is out of the question. And like you say, we're all going to be looking at a different colour on our screens here :slaphead:

Having said that, grey seems the way to go. This has only served to through up another conundrum, between grey (which I would say is light grey) and light grey (off white). I'm still leaning towards the second one just, only because the ivory in person came out fairly darker and more beige than the chart, so I would assume the same should apply to the grey.

I would ask for another sample but I don't want them to think I'm just rinsing them for freebies... The sample they sent would probably be enough to do both the door card leathers!

I don't know if it helps OP, but I have Montego blue with BMW pearl grey which I think is a good combination (although I'm obviously biased)

But then again I could be really tempted by a blue/black combination!

Thank's Mr Tidy that's actually a great help, I like it! I think a half colour in the light grey would be a good contrast with the black.

I was tempted by something a bit more drastic, I didn't want to 'over blue' it though (terrible pun, I'll get my coat). But seriously, I think colour options are quite restricted with a blue car compared to the rest.

I know what you mean - I love the red leather, but that just doesn't work with Montego Blue!

And TBH blue and black interior could look a bit "meh", but light grey and black might look great in a Montego Blue Z4! (Just IMHO).

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do go for - might even provide me some inspiration!

What about something like the oem Syrah blue? If your going to go for blue I’d say it would have to be a darker shade than the body colour, in my head a lighter shade will take away from the body work. Here’s my Syrah interior:

I think it’s largly a matter of your own preference, only you know how you want your car to look. It’s a tough one!

Hmmm... I started with white, moved onto grey, now I'm on blue... Things are never straight forward are they?

There's the half blue or could try something a little more subtle. It'd take a bit more skill and eye for detail than a straight half and half.

That looks really good and very unique  , tho as you say, it will be a pita to do.
The other blue option earlier in the thread looks good too. It reminds me of the bmw individual style seats.

Yeah the easier of the blue options does look good. I've been a little busy and drawn up a few examples of what I like, struggling to pick one though

This was my first 2.0 Zed - at the time I had no idea that the bi-coloured interior and the leather dash was special. I liked it but bi-colour leather always divides opinion. I think this subtler blue looks better than the blues you've photoshopped, however it may clash wish your body colour.

I'm sure this will be controversial but I really have a thing for the last one. It's my guilty pleasure, and probably the one everyone else will hate :?
