Eh, it's only got one door......

Looks quick, maybe the only car that can give Andy Sixspeed a run for his money.

Very expensive though, with z4ms so cheap now i reckon you could build your own for quite a lot less.

Build your own for less?

For trackdays, probably yes. For motor racing, no. Interesting finding one for sale though. Not many Z4MC's racing.

I've only seen about 6 in total, but they all seem to do well in their classes and overall. Mainly see them in endurance races of 2 hours plus, rather than the 20 minute club stuff.

The Red Bull / Duller Motorsport one at the BritCar 24hr (where I was marshalling) was what first got me interested in the Z4MC.

This car is in a completely different class from the Red Bull car. The Duller, Scheid, Schubert ones are EUR250,000 and you will need another EUR50,000 worth of software and hardware just to start them up. I had a chance to spend an hour messing around the Schubert car last Summer. It is so complicated that I doubt that I would be even able to get it out of the pits at the Nurburgring. The reason they do very well in endurance racing is their low fuel consumption relative to their pace. In the VLN, a Z4MC would last 11-12 laps on a 120ltrs fuel cell, the Manthey Porsche will do 9-10 and the Zakspeed Viper will do 8-9. These numbers are approximate, but you get the picture. In 2007, the Z4MC was running 3d in the 24hrs of the Nurburgring until Hans Stuck decided to have a small altercation with the armco.

There is no way you can build a car for as little as £47.5k to the same standard. Trust me, been there done that...

$68,118. If I could buy this without my wife finding out, I surely would. :D What a fun "weekend" car.

All the gutted interior for weight savings and they proceed to put BBS CH's on the car. :headbang: The CH's are not light. They should've put the RGR's or other light-weight racing wheels.

This is quite a good clip of the Schubert car at one of the VLN races, if that's a DTM Astra in front then there's very little wrong with the pace of the Z4.

Never said there is anything wrong with the pace of the Z4MC. In fact I complimented it, particularly with regards to their fuel consumption. Some more colour from some of the drivers and mechanics - "overall, they are a great package, but are not easy to drive to their maximum potential like an E46 M3 GTR. You have to really work the car hard to get it to be on par with the RSRs. They are very reliable and the S54 is little changed from the factory unit. It would make 400 to a maximum of 440bhp for the sake of reliability. The only problem with running one privately is the all the paraphenilia, which has to go with it - stupidly, and I mean really eye-wateringly expensive...

I didn't mean to imply you thought the Z4MC lacked pace, rather that it is far more competetive than on paper it should be. I certainly would have thought a DTM astra would simply walk away from the Z4MC.

You are right, but somehow the Astra is not that quick (relatively speaking) vs. what people would expect from it... A very strange one - there are cars in the VLN, which should be very quick and aren't and vice-versa, like the Z4MC
