Q – Why do Run Flat tyres have flattened shoulders?
A – For optimum handling, high-performance (HP) tyres have a smaller tread depth in the shoulder area than in the wider longitudinal grooves that contain the wear indicators. So what looks like wear on the outside shoulder of the tyre is in fact not tread wear at all.
