Interesting frost effect...

Ok so it's been a bit cold round these parts lately and I haven't used the Zed for a few days due to illness, but when she started this morning all the computer/time readout was blank as if the battery had been disconnected for a while.
Not a problem as she still fired up first time as usual, but I've never seen that before as a effect of cold; I mean places like Germany it get's seriously cold, not the cold snap we get in the UK.

mine did that a couple of months ago & the battery is still fine, its been sat in the garage for the past 2 and a half months & still starts ok

I had this once whilst driving on the motorway (so highly likely not a battery problem in my case) and it hasn't happened again in three years. I did have to replace the battery within six months of buying the car, but I think that pre-dated the instruments going blank.

I'll let you know. As it will be down to -15C next week here in Germany.

same thing happened to mine, once on start up and once whilst doing 70mph

it hasn't done it in a while though, and my car has been starting up fine.

I had this recently, it was an indicator the battery needed replacing. It did it a few times over a month or so. Usually after a colder night, which helps the voltage drop a bit I think. The engine always started fine, but it's probably best not to wait until you get stranded...

A new battery and all is fine.
