Intake or exhaust

Just wondering what folk prefer , the 6 cylinder intake drone with standard exhaust that I have or back box delete ?

I've read some don't like the drone sound on a longer trip but me I like it, not sure about a back box although in the early '80s my MK1 Escort Mexico had a Janspeed exhaust and I loved it but I was 20 back then . Not sure if the females I was trying to impress appreciated as much as me

Hearing deteriorates as you get older so that’s probably why you are not disturbed by the drone.

I took some foam out the sound generator cos its free, and that was enough for me. Though ive done back box deletes on 6cyl bmws in the past and thats been good too.

Think i prefer exhaust, standard ones are just soo muted.

I seem to prefer exhaust to intake.

Which is probably just as well as my previous Z4 had a custom cat-back system and my current one has Powerflow back-boxes. :D

My current E85 is running a Scorpion Cat Back, it does sound beefier than the standard system but doesn’t make your ears bleed… bloody expensive new though

I prefer exhaust, however I have done both. Back box delete and a rather large ramair filter. It does make the car quite loud

Recently fitted the AFe intake to my 3.0Si. Love the added noise above 3.5k rpm. No drone which is nice, unlike the modified exhaust on my previous Z4. The latter made a 1000km daytrip a lot more exhausting (sorry…) than it could have been.

Also: love the sound of a proper intake on a naturally aspirated engine

Mike at Z shed( ducklakeview on here) does a conversion on a standard box which sounds great doesn't drone and still looks standard.
