Been with Direct Line for 10 Years + with no claims they want £ 585.76, called them to give them a chance to re-think and got a swift NO !

So told them not to auto renew

On to gocompare and Ageas came up with £ 206.77 (No extras, never use them) £ 800 excess but £ 250 free back if needed from gocompare.
(Not likely needed)

 :driving:

I change insurer just about every year (loyalty counts for nothing with them) - as long as they have a decent Dafaqto rating
Ageas are one of the largest - based in Belgium, but operating in 14 countries according to Google
How much does it go up if you reduce the excess?
Just don't leave it too late to change. The price will go up the nearer you get to your renewal date

I never auto-renew, but have to call the insurer every time I get my renewal notice to stop it (due to continuous insurance legislation).

Always end up paying slightly less than the previous year, and usually about 10% less than the renewal quote.

I will give the current insurer a chance to beat/match the premiums from to a quick refresh of my saved comparison site searches (saves me typing the info in every year). If they're close enough, then I won't change. If they're miles away I will.

If it's online - change the voluntary excess slider/entry.

If it's on the phone, ask them :?

No worries, With £ 250 back from Gocompare i'm at £550.-- which i would never bother with anyway

Ignore those comparison machines. Go to a broker like Adrian Flux and you'll get a much better price and quality of cover for cars like ours.

Try admiral on the phone......£125 with £0 voluntary xs and £100 forced xs .....I am getting on a bit though!

I had noticed a bit of a rise across the market generally. My renewal was in March and it was up significantly from the year before. I’m 35 but have maximum NCD.

Shopped around a bit and got Admiral down some but they were still £50.00 adrift. I’ve been with Elephant.co.uk (part of admiral) and they weren’t able to assist. I have a multi car with admiral but I have no doubts I’ll have to change again in March next year when the renewal comes through.
