Insurance that will cover upto 6 months abroad?

Evening Everybody.
Im looking at driving my E86 down to France with me towards the end of the year with a view of potentially having down there for upto 6 months due to work commitments. Coming back to the UK will not be a viable option so i need an insurance company that would cover this. Does anybody know of any company that covers for such events?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Olly.

SAGA 365 days per year but you have to be over 50 to get insurance with them.

LV will do 6 months for anyone.

No one else will, whatever you are told, Not quite true as there are some specialists who will..........for a price.

Most companies seem to give you about three months and some will extend that for an extra cost, charged weekly or monthly. Might be worth a call to your insurers to see what they do.

I had my golf in Italy a couple of years ago and was insured with admiral at the time. They gave the standard 3 months but wanted to know that it was being taken all at once. After that I simply called them up and told them I would be staying longer and I think they charged about £17 a week. Not that cheap but better than running the risk with no insurance.

From what I remember when looking to insure the z out here, some places seemed to offer 180 days in the policy but getting quotes and confirmation seemed difficult. In the end I've gone through Stuart Collins who specialise in insuring uk cars abroad (the policy is with axa) this covers me fully comp for unlimited use in Europe and whilst It's not cheap (about double what I'd pay in the uk) the peace of mind you get knowing that there will be no quibbles come claim time is worth it.

I've had two friends that have had incidents out here, both no fault. One chanced it with insurance and the other stumped up. No prizes for guessing which one got screwed!
