Insurance Surprise

Had my insurance renewal through for the Z4 - £400.96 (Northern Ireland, not garaged etc)

The wife is learning to drive (32yrs old on her 2nd lesson), so for a laugh asked what it would be to add her on to the policy as a learner.

It DROPPED the premium to £356 whilst also ADDING protected NCB for me! If she passes her test, the premium will then drop to £233!!

Advice for single Zedders: Marry a nurse - insurance companies appear to love them :D

Although... I'll probably lose money in the short term as new shoes/handbag/designer shades will be required for driving the Zed.....

Just...who are you with for insurance. Last year (August) mine was £250 fully comp for me and the wife from Hughes insurance. Open and Direct started at £700 and came down to just below £400.

My insurance is up in about 5 weeks and so far cheapest quote I have for me and the missus is £510 for a 3.0 Si Coupe in Belfast (SDP and 7k mile per annum). This is through Admiral although I am with Direct Line who are usually v. competitive they aren't telling me until there is less than 4 weeks until renewal time I expect them to match it.

Is there anyone else worth considering in Norn Iron who may be cheaper?

£100 excess for me, £250 for Mrs M.

She's still unsure if she wants to drive the Zed. She has her eye on a Peugeot 107 :tumbleweed:

My insurance premium dropped by a couple of hundred bucks when I turned 25 2~3 years old. I'm getting married in 3 months and I just found out that my premium will go down another $240 by gettung married. :D

Mrs PVR reduced my premium by £150. Getting done at 36 in a 30 zone ADDED £250 to my premium, so she was off the car for 4 years. Now she has reduced the premium again by £150.

Wow, £1320  how many year(s) NCB do you have lucy?

Well i got the car 6 months ago when i was 20 years old, and hadn't had my licence for 2 years until December so i only had 1 year ncb. So it's not that bad considering. But it looks really bad compared to everyone elses!

Your all lucky, try paying 1320 like i did

Who are you insured with Lucy? Only i know of a few people around your age who either have had trouble getting insurance, or are paying more than that on lesser powered cars. I will point them in the direction of the insurance company you are with.

There were only about 4 or 5 companies that would even insure me, all the others wanted 3000 so Diamond was a bargain :)

It's also rather cool beacuse they send me emails to do with fashion and beauty http://www.diamond.co.uk/bestFriend/bestFriend.php
