Insurance renewals - that horrible time of year

Afternoon all

It's come to my least favourite time of the year....Insurance, tax and MOT in the same month. Urrgghh.

Does anyone know any decent insurance companies offering decent prices? I've had my renewal from Admiral. It was just over £1000! When I rung them to change my address anyway and also this time the car will be on the drive & with one more yr no claims discount I was thinking it would come down a bit from the 1000quid renewal!

But check this out...it went up to £1100??!!! I haggled with them a bit, and got it back down to £1000...but still!

Ok, so here's whats not in my favour - being 23, with 6 points, 3yrs no claims and a 2.0L Zed.

Any ideas anyone before I cry and rethink this whole z4 fantasy!

Cheers!

I've been with Adrian Flux for years now, they always seem to give good prices.

Thats not bad, i'm with elephant and my first year i paid £1000 for the 10 month bonus accelerator. That was on a 2.0i and i was 25 with 3 points, 0 NCD and 2 claims.

I have noticed though this year doing quotes prices have gone up as the AA predicted. Have you tried adding one of your parents as a named driver?

Best two for me were Aviva and MoreThan, went with MoreThan because Aviva add £200 if you want to use your own repairer

Im with BMW who is underwritten by the same company as direct line. When ever my renewal come in it always higher then last year so I get a quote from direct line and then get BMW to match it. Good thing with BMW is that all repairs are carried out out a BMW garage.
Anyway have you tried putting someone else on the policy as mentioned. I've got my partner on my insurance and she never drive the car but is cheeper to have her as a named driver, even though she is more like to crash it

Im still in the process of looking for a Z4 and the cost of insurance has held me back a bit.
I work in insurance (mostly household) but know the generals of how it all works. Given your circumstances I would say your getting a great deal. Remember whatever the engine, you still have a sports car so your insurer idealy wants you to be 25yrs+. 3yrs NCB and 6 points isn't ideal but you can't change that, that will follow you no matter what car your in. I'm sure as soon as the sun is back out, £1000 will seem like small change for the fun you'll be having :)

in response to jan tekins post: same thing here but my 61yo mum, who has never driven anything with more than about 135bhp! Having her on makes it a bit cheaper although I think she would be scared to death of the M...

Still, its nice to be able to give her the choice

I pay £446 (with miles limited to 6000 as it is a second car). It would be around £470 for a normal annual mileage.

TBH all you can do is shop around yourself what might be cheap for some can be very expesnive for others. :(
