Insurance renewal

That time of year again and got a typical renewal quote from Privilege of £355. Being quite used to high insurance premiums for my cars I was about to renew when I had a deep seated need for a bonus.

Off I went to a comparison site and was surprised to see some very good quotes from some very good companies, after a bit of a thought and a courtesy call to Privilege I am now insured with Admiral for the princely sum of £190.00 fully comp, max protected no claims normal stuff. In addition my excess has dropped by 50%.

And the bonus, well....................

fantastic price....you must be an old codger

Hmm, I have extracted some cash from my pension funds (kids house deposits) and I don't work, but no bus pass or state pension quite yet ;-)

fair enough

I'll be happy once I get my renewal below £600

Peanuts, in days gone by I've paid nearly £2000.00 for the joy of driving faster cars.

Crikey I'd like some of your luck, I'm with Steven on this one. I'm 27 next month and got quoted £900, £950 with Csl's and an aftermarket exhaust. Although I have got 3 stupid points (biggest joke going that was) but they come off this year.

I'm 23 and I was £1,500 as a second car :( worth it though, had a write off 3 years ago so i suppose its not that bad

I have 7 or 8 years no claims and no points on a standard car, although I did tell them about al options the car has and I have cover for them.

I do live in the new forest in Hampshire though, so maybe a safe postcode. I am planning to move towards London this summer, so I could end up with a significantly increased insurance bill!

It's interesting just how many factors go into quotations. I would have the same no claims but I've got the somewhat headache of having been on a motor trade policy in between which can work against you as you don't have a no claims bonus during this time.

Currently pay £580 a year, 06 sapphire black Z4MC. Aged 21 with 4 years protected no claims and £500 total excess.

Was ecstatic to learn it was that cheap when I bought the thing, was expecting £1k+

Does your car reside in Fort Knox encased in a bullet proof bubble that you only drive once a year because I fail to see how you could get quoted that low for your age :| . Exceptional for your wallet however

Haha nope sadly not, just on the driveway outside! I do only do 6-7k a year in it and that is as part of a multicar policy with Admiral. It is as you say fantastic for the wallet, however renewal is in 4 weeks so let's hope it stays that way then perhaps those genuine CSLs may happen...
