Hi Peeps,

My classic car renewal quote with ClassicLine has come back at £420

That's on a 2007 Z4 Si Coupe, 3k miles per year. 43yrs old, B90 postcode.

Where else should I be getting some quotes?

Gus.

I honestly didn't know a 2007 car could be classed as a classic for insurance purposes...

Anyway I'd recommend trying Chris Knott - they are a broker who have a forum discount here. Details should be here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=119755&p=1713748&hilit=knott#p1713748

They were able to get me a really competitive quote and have been great to deal with in the last 2 years.

Try Ensure.

I do about 4000 miles per year on an 8000 mile policy. £197 per year.

I don't live in the Wild West though.

I found that Chris Knott only tried to beat my premium when I told them what it was, which isn't quite the same thing. What was telling was they said they do not beat some companies like 'hastings direct' . Guess which website I went straight to, and saved about £250 per year over the Direct Line renewal quote on my E89 35is.. (yeah I know its not an E85/6! )

Direct Line - 64-plate 20i MSport - 6k per annum - garaged - in the seething metropolis of Norfolk - £181
Also have my daily and the house with them, so I get a bit of discount

Aviva couldn’t be beaten for me.

E89 23i, 51 YO, 8,000 miles including business use. Parked on drive £154

I had a 2006 Z4 insured with Classic line back in 2011, so was only 5 years old at the time.

i got a very good quote last year from quote me happy, £164, cheapest i ever had on the Z4, normally its around £250 , i go through all the comparison sites every year though, go compare, money supermarket and compare the market

I’ve just renewed my insurance today with a local company. Buckingham Insurance, they Are a family business, have 2 offices, been around 30 years.

I pay £382 a year, 12,000 miles with 5,000 business. I’m 32 years old with 8 years no claims, fully comp on my Porsche Cayman.

I was quoted £669 with Adrian flux, with the same underwriter. Marker study.

Worth a ring to them 👍🏻

Renewed at begining of Jan with Chris Knott. Very helpful. 20k mls pa with 10K business. 66 yrs old based in West Wales but frequent travel to London. Not garaged but 400yds off road up a farm track. £378 inc ipt. This is with full NCB on my daily but advised to CK when they asked.

Interestingly I use Ian Flux for the LDV camper and NFU for the Volvo XC70 daily; both competitive. However, both were twice as much as CK for the Z. I guess it depends on having the right insurer for the particular vehicle.

I make a point of not telling what other quotes are if asked.

My E86 is with esure. c. £250. I'm in my late 30s, car is garaged, has an additional named driver, and limited mileage (can't remember the exact figure but 5 or 6k I think). It is also covered for business use.

If your car is an 07 you may as well go third party. You only need a little shunt and they will write it off. :( You can then try to fix it yourself.

I always stick with fully comp purely to cover the expense of a new windscreen. In a lot of cases the premium is not much more.
Young apprentice at work just passed his test. To insure his 1.25 58-plate Fiesta was cheaper Fully Comp than TPFT?! Work that one out?

I recently paid £185 through Direct line under a multi car policy. Limited to 4k mileage per year on a 2004 3.0i se

Thanks all, will ring around and check some on-line quotes.

Just to add I cant use my NCB as there on my daily car, so will have to opt for some specialist classic, limited usage scheme.

Prices are all over the place. If you keep changing the parameters on your quote it's insane how much it changes. It worked out much cheaper for me with ESure if I added my girlfriend as a named driver and kept the car on the drive rather than in my garage! Mental

Put the girlfriend on mine too, saved £93 on Zed and £86 on 3 series.

Just hope the wife doesn’t find out
