£498 with esure to continue policy for me and wife on 2.3i 59 plate 12 k miles a year.
Went online Esure new policy (not renewal) £350 ! So penalised for being loyal then :poke:
Swiftcover online £292 for same policy job done bye bye esure and in October when the jeep renewal is up I'll be off ski as well

I had the same experience with Admiral Multicar - got a great deal last year and when the renewal came through the post last month, it had gone up 50% :o so I immediately called them and they said that they could not do anything about it and gave a very feeble excuse of 'excess claims' in my area - bulls**t!

So got straight on the 'comparison sites' and got a much cheaper quote from Chaucer Direct and Swiftcover - make me think that the 'multicar' policy is just a marketing ploy!

I now get a call once a week from Admiral asking if they can re-quote :P

I think this has been said many times before - there is NO loyalty with most insurance companies - come renewal get alternative quotes!

Hello 2nd hand parts and crappy garages... Swiftcover are cheap for a reason!

Please tell me you can still cancel with Swiftcover? I've heard nothing positive about them - as peddy says, they'll use 2nd hand parts to repair damage, etc.

Swiftcover were (significantly) cheapest for my renewal last week but luckily I managed to get another insurer to price-match them: IAM member so using IAM's own insurance via Adelaide Insurance via RSA.

Not wishing to be contentious, while I know some would bemoan such tactics as Swiftcover's, the car isn't covered new for old is it, so why should parts be? The point of insurance is normally to put you back in the position you were in before the claim, i.e. a second hand car with second hand parts?

Discuss.... :?

But all going well I'll only be paying this necessary driver tax!! And won't have to use it (touch wood) :poke:
Yes you need to pay an extra excess if you want your own repairer, but Esure state this too.
And if my car is damaged it will be repaired properly by any garage or I won't be accepting it back, and this would include an approved BMW body shop. :poke:

I've just had a similar thing with Admiral.

Renewal was around £910 for 10 months.
Tested as a new customer £865 for 12 months (£818 for 10 months)!!

Called them up and they changed my renewal price to the new 12 month quote! They also threw in a better accident cover option (50k > 100k)!

Just renewed our Z4M with Esure...

£382 for me and the missus..

Happy days :)

Oh...2001 996 was £818 last year..figure that out!

I had a claim on my M with Swiftcover - fixed in a BMW dealer with BMW suspension parts throughout, with the minimum of fuss really. I don't know where all these scare stories come from. If you read the small print of their T&C's they are just about identical to every other major insurer.

A lot of insurers offer motor insurance to 'clean-risk' new customers at artificially low (below-market) rates. At the first renewal, the premium will then shoot back up to the actual market rate. They assume that people just presume that rates have gone up and pay the price. Where it bites them in the backside is when you then go to a price comparison site and get another "new customer" quote, lower than your "valued customer" renewal premium.

They treat you like crap, so do the same and take the business elsewhere. Go back the following year if need be and repeat ad infinitum.

I've just returned to Swiftcover, was with them 3 years ago,but their price went up and I switched. Just had my renewal and it's the same as last year, so not too bad you may think,BUT, I did a quick "compare the meercat" job and got many quotes @£200 cheaper. I went with Swiftcover for a nice low £ 234 with protected no claims.Next nearest was £ 100 more.At least there's some benefits to turning 50!!! :D

Even at the high price Admiral was still the best price, which is why I stayed with them. Tesco's for example was over £2700! :o One insurance company on the comparison site was around £11k. That's more than my car's worth (yes I know it's not just car you're insuring, but £11k?? Really???)!

Am amazed, was reading through these posts and thought I'd re-check my prices on the usual comparison site. I renewed back in Jan and the best I could get was around the £990 mark with Admiral. I'm a 31yr old male and had a write off in Nov of 2008 and 3 points for speeding back in 2010. Just re-checked again and somehow its dropped to £514 through Swift. Even Admiral who were the best back in Jan are now down to £640. What's going on??!

All my wheels are now with Swiftcover.
Frankly who really cares on a car that's worth £6k or about £4k as a write off, if they keep costs down. Doubt there's many older Zed around without some second hand or pattern part on it somewhere.

I've just dumped Adrian Flux for a multi car policy with Direct Line. Cheaper than Admiral and worked out moving my NCB around made for a cheaper deal overall. I've had my daily drive with Direct Line for years, and apart from the occasional merry go round of threatening to cancel at renewal time they've been great. All 4 cars insured with them now.

I can't even get a Swiftcover quote because they won't let me put my parents as additional drivers and on my own it's over £2,500.
