Insurance Renewal - Multicar

Just had my renewal through from Admiral (Multi car). The Mrs car is the same price £195, but mine has gone down by 18% to £250.

Had a quick look but don't think I can beat it :D

Are you happy with Admiral Multi Car, we are thinking of using this for the 3 or poss 4 cars we are going to have as it seems great prices to include the zed as well the kids (not that they can drive the zed!!)

I have muti car for the z, x5 and the mrs beetle cab and they were great at first but renewals are getting uncompetitive and may go back to seperate policies.

It works at the moment. My two policies were only a week apart to begin with. Admiral bring them all in line so if you ever move away all you cars will be due at the same time. Worth thinking about if you normally pay annually.

Im with LV, £200 for the zed, £150 for the picasso. £150 for the C3. Max no claims, cheap postcode, flush of yoof behind us!

Try a new online quote with admiral multi car as it may be cheaper and they'll match it.
I have to do this every year with them as the renewal isn't always the best price. Last year I paid £1050 for 3 cars, this year its £820.

I get quotes for separate policies each year but admiral is always by far the cheapest, been with them for 8-9 years now and had no problems with claiming before.

I had a quote from Admiral multi car online.
They were £150 more expensive than getting seperate insurance for my 2 cars.
Ended up with Churchill who will apply a discount for the 2nd car once you have insured 1 with them. Incidentally they are not the cheapest quote I had but they included basic breakdown cover in the price which swung it for me.
Ended up less than £200 each for my 2.2 E85 and a 2014 Hyundai Sante Fe

Had more hassle with Admiral multicar a few years back, mine, my wife's and my sons cars.
They could never get details right and every time I rang them to change them they added £17 admin charge even though it was their fault
On renewal we went back to separate policies and worked out a lot cheaper, so wouldn't touch multicar again.

With Admiral come renewal time they'll always rip you off hoping you won't question the price. If you phone them up and try to cancel I guarantee they'll keep adding 'personal discount' to bring the price down to a much more competitive level. At least this is what I found anyway. Always good to go in with a better quote from another company as well as they will usually match it. Saved over £100 last time on my renewal with them doing this :)

As I said have done some other quotes and they are more expensive. I will try the multi car quote from Admiral direct, but I can't see me getting it any cheaper.

Their quote system is too clever, it knows I have a policy with them and only give me these options

Could you please tell us why you would like a new car insurance quote:
I have an additional car I would like to insure
I am thinking about making some changes to my policy
I would like to find out more information about my renewal

I'm happy with all the mods I have, I think £450 for 2 cars is pretty good.

That's quite good for two cars, similar to my multicar deal.
I renewed with them this summer but only after I scared them with a Chris knotts quote. But they bettered that by insuring at market value (same as CK) rather than purchase price. Made quite a difference on the premium - £160

Been on admiral multicar for 3 years now for 3 cars.

Last year I had to cancel my policy and re-quote with my mum as the policy holder instead of myself as the price was significantly different.

Other than the good price, admiral are pretty average. They make mistakes, dont atone for them and cancelled my policy because they made an error and couldnt be bothered to contact me. Still while they are the cheapest thats what I will buy and they didnt have an issue with my claim..

I was pretty pissed at admiral, as they had always previously insisted on insuring my cars at purchase price, but we're happy to drop to current market value after another insurer had done that.

Not sure how enforceable that actually is considering they'd only pay out market value on a worst case write off anyway.
Srhutch - are you insuring against market value?

Would guess so, if at purchase price I'm quids in anyway as both cars have lost a couple of grand.

That's cool, my cars had combined depreciation of about £20k from purchase to market value, so I was fizzing a little, but only have myself to blame for that :x

Just do a new quote and change your DOB by a day, that's what I do then when they run through the details on the phone just correct it.

I had 4 cars on an Admiral multi-car a couple of years ago, the price was fine but their service when I needed to make a claim was absolutely crap. My 6 month old E Cass took a heavy impact on the passenger side (my fault) and not unreasonably I wanted it repaired at a Mercedess approved repairer. However the problems started immediately after the accident when they refused to help get me home (I was 200 miles away on a business trip and they wouldn't even get me back to my hotel!). All they would do was arrange recovery of my car which they advised could take up to a couple of hours. Since I couldn't secure it due to the damage I had to stay with it and wait for them. Fortunately Mercedes were a lot better and recovered me and the car within 30 minutes, they also gave me a replacement E Class for a week. Once I'd spoken to Mercedes I called Admiral back told them to cancel their recovery and where the car was being taken. I was advised that I needed to get three quotes for the repair since I wasn't using their recommended repairer and they were somewhat baffled when I asked how I was supposed to do that with an undriveable car, they did eventually back down and accept that wasn't possible. The following morning I spoke to the repairer and they had already been in contact with Admiral and had the repairs authorised (they turned about to be an Admiral approved repairer as well as a Mercedes one) so I was a bit surprised when I got a call from Admiral asking me where my car was and when I'd be providing the 3 quotes! I spoke to the repairer and got them to confirm that they really had authorisation from Admiral given the call I'd just had. They confirmed that they had and even sent me a copy of the approval details. A bit later I got another call from Admiral to let me know that they had located my car for me and could arrange for it to be moved to an approved repairer as that might speed up the repair!! I asked to speak to a manger and explained that they needed to get their left and right hands speaking to each other, they hadn't located my car for me since both me and them had known where it was since the previous night and since their approved repairer had already started work I wasn't sure how much quicker another approved repairer might be! The numpty of a manager simply thanked me for providing the information and ended the call.

Needless to say I was never going to renew that policy even if it had been free (a point I made to them when asking for proof of no claims at the end of the policy year). The fact that they more than doubled the premium for the renewal whereas Aviva quoted about the same as Admiral's previous year also helped.

That is the problem with insurance, you never know how good it is until you need to claim. But all of these companies are getting worse, you just have to hope you don't need their services.

That works, but they want me to call them re the mods on my car. TBH I can't be arsed. The price has gone down by 18% so I doubt they are rooking me.
