... And it's almost £3k!! :o :o :o :o       :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Last year it was around £1600 with £350 excess... now it's come back at over £2900 with £500 excess.

The only thing that's changed is that I got three points, but I don't believe that made any difference as I tested it on confused.com and none of the results including elephant, which I am with, changed when I added it.

so question is WHY!!??

Funny thing is elephant said £2500 on confused.com.

27 next month.
4 years NCB
2 x 3 points (SP30) in the last 5 years (but making it just 3 points like it was last year made no difference)

Im 37 never had any points :o :o :o
never had an accident :o :o :o
Married though which brings it down a bit too

Sounds a lot TBH

Half of it is probably because I live in London!!! :headbang:

I actually checked with no points and only then did drop by a few hundred.

I don't get it!!! how can they basically double it for no reason! I've been with elephant for several years now and have made them a lot of money, which in return hasn't cost them a penny!!

Unfortunately you are just one of thousands to a big organisation like Elephant where customer loyalty doesn't mean anything. And unfortunately a London postcode certainly doesn't help. I've used Norwich Union (now Aviva) for years and they have always matched any cheaper quote at renewal time - including cheaper quotes from them on their own web site! Couple of small accidents on other family cars insured through them and excellent service with loan car and repairs. The current economic climate will also force up premiums as repair costs increase etc.

Bloody hell. Thats massive increase. Mine was only £150 more expensive (on £540 to £690) and I wasnt impressed, although I have had no accidents, no points, havent moved. Only thing changed is an extra years no claim earned! I'm 28, unmarried, but in Hull.

in the good old days it used to been 25 and your insurance went down
now it 30 :headbang:
what about the insurance dude on here?

Bloody hell! I thought my renewal was a bit steep but that's unreal :o

Apparently all insurance premiums are up an average of 20%, but that still doesn't account for your increase. I managed to get mine down to last year's price by shopping around but it was worth it...

Mine went up from £800 to £1300 for no reason at all, that was before I told them I'm doing 10K more a year. This was with BMW to which i've been with the for that las 4 years.

Im now with Swift cover, not my ideal choice but they came in under £800 with the extra milage I'm doing so I can't complain.

I'm 29 with 7 NCB and 3 point TS50.

Get in touch with Chris Knott - the only thing it will cost you is a phone call. You're also talking to a person and not a computer which makes a big difference.

Ouch...im 26 and only paid 660 last october with Direct Line (when I was 25, with 6 years no claims, no points) - admittedly its a 2.0...

Hope you manage to find something more reasonable...good luck

Why, what's wrong with Swift Cover?
I believe (BAHTBC) that they have a clause in their T&Cs which lets them use '2nd hand' or 'pattern parts' in place of genuine BMW ones.

:headbang:

I didn't what to hear that. :D Knew I should of read the T&Cs

I heard premiums were going up. The major problem is your postcode, even if you hardly drive the car your surrounded by traffic therefore potential prangs. Stick your mum on the insurance (or pretend you live in...err Devon) - thats about the only way you will get it down. :(

3k OMG i thought mine was bad!

I was refused insurance from the co-op (which I could get friends and family discount with) as I was under 30, then the cheapest was swiftcover... at £700 but i upped my excess to £750 (vol+compul).

And i have full no claims, no points, and live in a good post code (Northwood) car parked on drive etc.

My old S2k was only £550 to insure and its 1 insurance group higher.

I hate how they keep moving the goal posts.... when i was 23, i was told 25 the insurance gets cheaper.. swo i wait till i am 25 to get a expensive(ish) car (my S2K) then they say its 30! When i hit 30 no doubt it will be 35 :headbang:

I'm 26 7 years no claims and pay £550 sounds like they don't like points.. Do insurance companies know what cars you have had??
