Insurance renewal - happy bunny

My insurance is due at the end of the month and I've just got my renewal.
As expected it had gone up
Churchill increased it by about £30 to £245

I nearly always switch so I looked around and got comparable cover with Axa for £177
I also went through Top Cash Back so expecting another £36 in my account when the policy kicks in

dont know if premiums are dropping some this year? I did the wifes for her the other day and is was £120 cheaper than it has ever been before, generally its around the £300 mark but we managed to find it for £177 this year

I thought insurance premium tax was raised in last year's budget? Or did I just dream that?

I can't stand renewal time. It's pathetic that your existing I insurance provider sends out an inflated renewal, in the hope you don't bother shopping around. Disgusting really.

I imagine a lot of the older generation get effectively scammed in this way. The more tech savvy Generation know straight away what goes on. The older ones always talk about customer loyalty. No such thing exists in insurance

Mines £325 and I'm 30, so hoping for around that this year. Also hoping my wife's goes down, as it was £650 last year due to a non fault accident and a car theft on her claim history

Admiral quoted me double at renewal time, I shopped around and got it cheaper through Adrian Flux than the previous years through Admiral, when I told them they then quoted me £20 cheaper than Flux, I told them to f*ck off, if they could do it that cheap they should have offered it in the first place instead of taking the piss. Makes me sick the way these companies have no regard for loyalty.

exactly the same happened to me last year, with admiral. They're an arsehole of a company, but I gave them my custom because they were the cheapest for me once I phoned to tell them I was leaving due to their inflated renewal. As long as it's cheaper for me, I don't mind paying, but I really wish they wouldn't bother wasting paper printing off a crap quote, to then waste money sending to me through the post.

LV came up trumps, first time ever... renewal quote for the XC60 £2 more than the best I could muster on the comparison sites... MC went down to £260 with new CSL’s, B12 kit & induction Gruppe declared.

Am gobsmacked.

Er... excuse me! Not only did we 'older generation' grow up tech savvy, we f*****g started the tech age.

i was actually suprised at my last renewal from quote me happy.
they had come out best the previous year, and the renewal came through cheaper, which was refreshing, so renewed again.
if more companies did this, you would be less inclined to switch.

Nail...head and all that. :x

I will see what they come up with this year - Ive never seen the £177 level policies yet but hope to this year. I tick all the right boxes apart from as ben g points out " now 70+ and you're on borrowed time "

There were some slightly cheaper as well ronk
QMH, GA and LV were about a tenner less but the compulsory excess payments were higher (another of my pet hates)
With no legal add-on and larger voluntary excess the quote was actually £141 (with £36 cash back)

Living in a class II area helped, that coupled with early retirement (don't drive regularly at peak times) and relatively low annual mileage
Good luck
