Insurance Refund

After a bit of advice guys.

My previous car (120d Coupe) was insured through a internet brokers but as they weren't competitive when I bought the Z4 I decided to cancel the policy and go with Elephant.

Problem is that they owe me £204 (they have already subtracted the £50 cancellation fee) and they are saying that they can only refund it back to the card that I made the payment with.

This was paid off and cancelled over 6 months ago so is impossible.

I've said that they can issue a cheque or refund it onto a different card (which they also have on record from a plate change charge) but have not heard back for over 2 weeks.

The policy was officially cancelled on the 1st Feb - documents returned and signed for.

Should I give it a bit longer or ask for advice / register a complaint with the FOS?

Cheers

Dan

If you used a Credit card contact your CC company, they should issue a refund and charge it back to your insurance if your having issues.

I believe that until they change the law, which may be in the pipeline, a credit card never dies. You can be charged on the card long after you thought you cancelled it (small print). So you should be able to get the refund via your cardholder.

They are being arses, I've had the same situation and the insurance company issued a cheque it's just that they would rather not. But as srhutch says the credit card company still have their section 75 responsibility, or American Express, MasterCard or Visa can process a chargeback on the insurance company.
