Without wanting to sound nosey, I've often wondered what people pay for their insurance for the Z4, and seeing as mines up for renewal, maybe it could be helpful to some people if guys / gals would be willing to post their price / renewal price with who they go through.

Mine sup for renewal at the mo so maybe some good could come of it for other people too and make us even happier :driving:

Current Insurer : More Than
Currently Paying : £540 P/A Fully Comp
Area / Location : North East of England (DH2)

Renewal price best I got is with Esure at £343 fully comp - thats with 6 yrs no claims.

Just insured mine for another year.

BMW put the price up from £488 TO £630 :o OK i picked up 3 points last year but :o

Did a search online using the link on here and the best i got was Swift at £320 FC but never realised the excess was £750 not £500 so it then jumped to £371.

Chris Knott came in with £419 FC which i went with

Reason i chose Chris Knott

Swift

Euro cover 3 days then £15 up to 8 days then £1 every extra day

You must use the bodyshop they tell you

Chris Knott

Euro cover 90 days

You can use a BMW approved bodyshop or any bodyshop of your choice OK you will not get a courtesy car but not bothered about that.

Mine's £730 with Bell

20,000 miles p.a.
SDP&C, plus class 1 business use
No [declarable] convictions or accidents
Parked on the road/drive in Liverpool 25
Tracker Horizon
90 days Euro cover
Excess £350
9 years protected NCB

BMW wanted £1700

Interesting... surely if you had the car in with the BMW body shop then the bodyshop would give you a courtesy car. Or not?

Not at the rate that the insurance company makes BMW take to do the work.

They will negotiate very hard to get BMW to accept the work at the same rate as their 'approved' repairers, plus you'll usually end up paying for something else that was found at the same time

I got my suspension damaged when I mounted a kerb at about 40mph when swerving to avoid someone who pulled out across my lane without looking/seeing. I ended up with a bill for over £2k after BMW told the insurer that I'd need to have the dampers, springs and other parts replaced in pairs to maintain the integrity/safety of the system. The insurer would only pay for the one EDC strut and not the spring, bushes, arms, rods or anything else as they said they'd have needed replacing shortly anyway. It was only later when I needed to replace a damper under BMWs warranty on the part that they claimed that the EDC system only needs one changing at time unless both are damaged.

Mine came in at £350, £250 excess through the IAM Select scheme... have to be an IAM member though.

Chris Knott were close but couldn't offer me personal accident cover or any car content cover :(

Im in Surrey and car is on the driveway :D
9 years protected no claims

28yrs old, 5yrs ncb, £650 ish with Swift with £350 excess. Car on drive, partner on car brought it down ~ £75...

I'll try Chris Knott tomorrow as I'm still getting quotes. I think that is good but it'd be nice for better.

How much excess do most feel comfortable with?

Dave

hi man I have just payed £314 to More Than, Excess is £350 1 small claim my fault on protected policy mind you I am an old man? that might be why its cheap also claimed only 8000 miles a year .

Mine is 50% more than the highest quote on here so far

Quotes are not comparable unless you have some basic info so everyone should post at least this:

Quote and insurer
Age of all on the policy
NCB
Location
Additional things which impact the price like business use or breakdown cover

Quite right I missed a few :D ...

Age of myself 34 and the missus is 33...
Business Use included - though had little or no impact

:D

£1251 with Elephant for 8 months, No NCB, 8,000 miles, I'm 21 and live in Chelmsford, both Parents on policy too...oh and did I mention £750 excess  what a deal!! :tumbleweed:

But worth every single penny! :D

Mine seem to be coming in around the £450 mark. I had a prang in Dec (other parties fault, fully claimed on their insurance) which does seem to complicate things in the process, PITA!

Harrogate, car on drive, 31yo, 9+yr NCB, 8k per year

Will try Chris Knott when renewal time comes

They are quite popular on the TT Forum.

Every time i've had a better quote Dean has matched or beaten it and they are also mod friendly

Just did a check.

Swift Cover (who I am with at the moment) was the cheapest. 50 years old. Over 9 years NCB
£168 FC
£190 FC protected.
Both £750 excess.

The only advantage of being older!! :P

I just went with Adrian Flux/NIG

28yrs, 5yrs NCB, partner 30yrs, no claims/accidents

Kept on drive

Leeds postcode.

£350 excess

£614/annum

One benefit is they are open to mods which is handy, but the price seemed pretty good.

I tried Chris Knott but I didn't have enough experience in powerful rwd cars to their requirements. Fair do's if that is their perogative but it did make me think I'd probably not reward them with my business in future... my current insurer for example didn't bat an eyelid on the Z4, just they don't do such high groups on under 30's without a £500 weighting (next year at 30 it should be very competitive though!)

Esure,

31 Years Old
10 Yrs NCB
Named Driver only
9 points (but 3 still current) - i think the others are still valid for insurance, but not license.
No claims/accidents
Garaged
7K miles per year
M33 postcode.
No Mods

£801.00 Including Protected No Claims. Mine is due at the end of the month and privelige seem to be the cheapest at £680.00. Still too expensive if you ask me.
