Insurance Quotes for a Z4

Hi guys,

I have been looking at buying a Z4 and obviously have been looking at insurance quotes.
23, driving 6 Years, 2years NCB, (living Central London Zone 1 so been without a car for 2 years)
Original quote was £1250 TPFT.
Then I decided to see how much more Fully Comp was going to be..

..turns out it was only £890

How can this be?

Excess was all the same, just means now I got a higher form of cover.

Has anyone else found this or understand why this is the case? I was always under the impression Fully Comp was higher?

Cheers Jon

DId the same on a Renault Clio Cup I just bought.

TPFT was 2 x the cost of Fully comp.

As a bit of advice, try putting a parent on the policy, even if you have no intention.

Did this for my 22 year old daughter and took £200 off the fully comp cost.

Fully comp USED to be dearer than 3rd party F+F, but these days it is cheaper mainly because people with riskier profiles tended to opt for 3rd party and then go on to claim, thereby pushing up the cost of that type of cover.

Clio Cup, Cracking little car.

Yeah thats crazy, I did hear a friend say that Insurance companies prefer drivers to be Fully Comp because you are more likely to tell them even if you have a tiny bump because it covered in the insurance, potentially they would get a higher premium from then on? I don't know.
I genuinely can't work it out.

When I was 20 I bought a 2.0 Hyundai Coupe, and it cost £2500 per year.
I'm to blame though, It was 5:25pm on a friday, id told them i needed to insure it to get home so obviously they gave me a good financial tickling.
On renewal I got it down to £900.

Grizzly9.
Very good point. Makes sense actually.
Although over time I am sure it will balance its self out as people start to realise Fully Comp is cheaper.. but for now I am fine with that.
Saves me a bit of dose which can be invested more into buying a Z4.

Ive never been quoted less for TPF&T, I think its just scam these days. Fully comp has been cheaper since I turned 20.. As for buying insurance late, sometimes it can work in your favour, end of the day / week / month can get a better quote as insurers try to reach their quota.
