Just got meself a great insurance price :) (was dreading it, money tight at minute, + the bas***d pothole tax due at the same time :o )

MORE TH>N give me a new quote £217.00 fully comp with PNC and loads of goodies in case i should need them like "elevated courtesy car" and legal protection. Well chuffed

However, got me pothole tax reminder, £225.00 :o FOR WHAT!!! the roads i drive on are like ploughed fields! :x I know some of you guys pay £450.00 +

Just sayin' that my zed is the only car i have ever had that the ins. is less than the "BAS***D POTHOLE TAX" for the second year!

My current insurer, AXA could only come up with £258.00 and that was the best they could do! With less goodies!

Thanks for reading, Cheers, tug.

VED, Vehical Excise Duty it's NOT Road Tax but a tax based on emissions. Your Council are responsible for the up keep of the roads unfortunately. Your VED just goes into the huge pot of the HMRC and then distributed as the government sees fit.

Just saying

But Wow! How much for a 2.0l? I pay £285 for my 35is

Road tax  No such thing mate. As said, it's VED, based on your vehicles emissions.

It does make me laugh when people moan about it. Have you seen how much it costs in Ireland?

It all started in the Second World War to raise additional money to support the war fund. As with all governments, they then keep quite about it and let you carry on paying even after the war is over!
It's one of their big money earners that then goes on God knows what, probably politicians expenses!!!
