Insurance notification if changing from runflats

I have been ringing around today to get prices for a set of Falkens as I have had enough of the Bridgestone runflats on the car I bought 3 months ago.
One tyre dealer that I spoke to said that I should contact my insurance company to tell them I had changed from runflats as they could see view this as I have removed a safety feature from the car.
Has anyone else come across this issue and if you have changed from runflats did you notify your insurance?

Safety feature? How are the safer then?

Otherway round I would say! Ring the insurance and say you are less likely to crash as you now have decent Tyres :D

Called mine when I had the previous Z with runflats, as long as the tyres were correct for the wheels / car, they did not care less. Probably did not understand it anyway ...

It's a change from OEM. Notify as I did to be safe and avoid any potential issues.

mine said - no charge/interest as they are the same size, width, etc.

I phoned Admiral when I changed my tyres to Vredsteins from the RFT. I tried to explain what I had done and they just kept telling me they didn't "insure" the tyres and Ididn't have to tell them when I put new ones on. I gave up in the end. Outsourced call centers in god knows where really get on my nerves sometimes.

My insurer was only interested if I was fitting aftermarket, none standard sized wheels, the guy I spoke to thought I was winding him up about run flat tyres

More Than refused to insure me with non runflats. I changed to Admiral who, as was said before, don't care. I still made sure that I asked again at the time of insuring to get it confirmed on the recording of the policy setup.

Thanks for the feedback everyone - I spoke to my insurance company who said that as I wasn't changing the wheels only the type of tyre it wouldn't affect my insurance, but they did make a note on my file. Worth taking the time to make the call just in case!
