I posted a picture of my sons Alfa 156 hit by a 125D driven by an employee of our local dealer, well the result is -

Repair costs £6,087.61. Offered £1880 or £1780 if he takes it back. We buy any cars offered £950 for it recently.

Plus 1 for the insurance company I think.

Andi.

I saw that pic.

I dont understand how a bottle of T-cut a cloth and 10 minutes rubbing can come to £6,087.61

Yowch! What do you mean "if he takes it back"? Is that what the insurance company has offerred as a lump-sum payout?

If there's no structural damage, and he's happy to source a cheap replacement bumper, then I'd take the £100 reduction in settlement and keep the car.

Worst case is he decided to punt it onto ebay as a £500 fixer-upper and he'll be an extra £400 in-pocket.

At 6k damage and the boot unable to shut I'd say it's more than a bumper needed-but I'd still have it back as it's got to be worth it in parts and scrap!
