Insurance for courtesy car?

I've just booked my car in for an Inspection One service at a BMW dealer and asked for a courtesy car, am I right in thinking that I have to pay insurance on the courtesy car they have arranged?
 
2 options, you pay them some money I think £10 and they insure it for you or you use your own insurance company and insure their car on your policy!

having said this, differs from dealer to dealer!
 
I never pay anything. Think they tried it on once and I just gave them a glare, they never asked again ...
 
There was no cost but they pointed out there was a £1000 excess, but if I paid £10 the excess would reduce to £250.Might be a good idea to check excess.
 
Might just be a good idea to ask them what the position is. You do not want to be driving uninsured, as that could be very, very messy and extraordinarily expensive if the worst happens :cry:

If going on the dealers policy, you would normally be asked to produce the paper and photo part of your license to prove you are allowed to drive the car, or a copy of your insurance cover if you go that route showing you're covered for their car. Many personal policies allow cover on a loan car on a temporary basis FOC whilst yours is in for a service etc; however, it is clearly stated if that's the case.
 
Williams charge £15 for an 'Admin Fee', so even offering to put it onto my own insurance doesn't get it for free.

I thought this (and the free coffee/biscuits) was what I was paying £130/hour for :headbang:

Hmmm, Williams. Says it all, really. Not been impressed by their idea of customer service :evil:
