Insurance due again already? Recommendations?

Classicline for me too. Can't remember how much it was. I think it was about £430 based on 5k per annum mileage. Very pleased with them so far. As Mr Wilks says, they are actually human - you always speak to someone helpful. They just give me confidence that other companies don't.

I boycott Direct Line. Time and time again when i was younger they refused to quote me. So now I'm old and they're interested I tell them to do one. Can't stand insurance companies at the best of times but those who try to cherry pick all the low risk business I hate more than all of the others.

Just called Admiral.

You non-London people don't know how good you have it when it comes to being punished for living in the capital city! Considering I'm 40, a home owner, my car is locked in a secure garage, 8 years NCB, 2k miles a year limit etc, Admiral quoted me:

Multicar
- Z4M: £623.91 / Golf 1.6: £415.43

Individually (prepare to spit tea over your electronic device of choice)
- Z4M: £847.74
- Golf 1.6: £ I didn't bother listening!

Thats nearly double what esure want for renewal! Called esure and asked about SORN policy etc and they'e said I could pay for the renewal in full, then send in my certificate asking for it to be suspended on X date until X date and I'd need to be represented as TPF&T. Insurance would start again and I'd be refunded the pro rata difference.

Or I just don't insure at all of course!

What's the saving during the SORN period. Think I would worry being TPFT though

Esure didn't say but I'm guessing not much of a saving from FC if they're like every other insurance co gradually ensuring that's your only really choice for the money.

That Admiral quote is bonkers. I'm 31, 1 yr NCB, £5k/yr and my premium was just renewed at £670. I'm in NW6 which is in the highest risk bracket. Did you tell them your profession is " amateur stunt man"? :o

Classicline are a good company, I insured my 911 with then too
Tried them D. £471 so more than Esure renewal (once I get then to remove the excess protection policy premium they added on a whim!).

Not even that bad, man. I'm classed as a director and steered away from creative towards manufacturing as I hear the moment you mention 'the arts' they assume you're off your tits on coke 24/7 and don't wear a seatbelt.

Can only assume its my SE3 postcode. I re-estimated using reg of my old MC and it was the same, so can't be because its convertible. Or the month of October. Is it a busy time of year for renewals perhaps?

Esure for me.
Similar age and history.
£450 including every option except AA cover with £100 voluntary excess, all mods declared and accepted.
Parked on road or drive if I beat Mrs GregZ4 home and unlimited mileage as its a DD.

Some wouldn't touch it coz its on 19 inch nonRFTs, quad conversion, Hamann badges and even the stubby was an issue for one I talked to.....

That's odd, they insure both my kids that drive (18 and 22) and by far the best price.

Mind you, I do live in the cuds.

It was probably due to the fact that i lived in a medium risk area, in my early twenties, driving a Pug 205 GTi 1.9 or Fiesta RS Turbo. I didn't mind paying a lot, but they wouldn't even quote. I've never used them since on any kind of insurance.

A-on professional insurance.

I'm 29 with 2 years no claims and 3 points and with comparison sites I was getting quotes for £1000 but with A-on I got it for £600. My brothers insurance went from £1,500 to £500 (he lives in a kinda rough area hence the original high quote)

As part of the original quote they limit your mileage to 10,000 to make it cheaper but you can have unlimited mileage which I did n it's only a little more, business mileage is included if you need tht for your job. You don't get 3rd party cover so can't drive another car n if thts something you need this isn't the insurance for you. Although you can add a spouse on your insurance for free and it's cheaper but I don't know the exact details
Of tht as didn't do that.

In any case it's good to check it out for any car you have.

AXA via the meerkat on a brand new Z4 35is £398. Just got this last month. 2 Drivers over 40, 8 years NCB was the best I could find. Hope you find a good deal, good luck :)

After a 500 mile blat to Yorkshire and back via Suffolk, I've decided to store the ///M for the winter. As of this week she's going to be cleaned, wrapped up, garaged and put on battery conditioner until the March 31st. After trawling and calling many different companies I started asking specifically for Laid Up cover. My current insurer Esure said I had to pay the full amount for renewal but then claim back for the months I didn't use the car (so thats just insuring it then!).

Laid up car specialists Sorn Insurance wanted £174 for the year but I had more luck with Classicline Insurance who wanted £98.90 for TPF&T cover lasting 12 months (non refundable after 90 days meaning £98.90 for the 5 months I'm off the road). Now I just need to SORN my girl until early next year too.

See you in April :driving:

Interestingly there were a few adjustments I made to my original quote on confused.com which brought the premium down from £470 to £320. They were...

- increase mileage from 3000 to 5000
- offer £500 excess
- took the gf off the policy - This one was weird. Significantly dropped the price. She's not working now as is full time mum so perhaps that was why?

I imagine the 500 excess made a big difference, they know now that for anything other than a large claim you wouldn't bother putting it through your insurance..
