Insurance discount for TRACKER

I thought I'd start a new thread as the old one went on a bit and I also no responses from members that did get a discount for having tracker type systems fitted.
Has anyone on the forum got a reduction on their insurance after declaring a tracking device?
I am in the middle of composing a letter to Tracker with my findings. If I find out that nobody has attracted a discount it will give me more ammo for my letter.
Thanks for your help.

this is a bit hit and miss really,i've had some slight discounts and some insurance company's say that until i send proof of the tracker the car is'nt insured for theft!i'm with morethan now and they've not asked if i have tracker fitted,
ps, my cars an ///M so insurance company's look at my car slightly different.

I've been offered reduced premiums if I list the Tracker, but the companies that reduce the premium in those situations is not the best value for money anyway (more expensive by about 30%), so I go elsewhere.

BTW, I activated mine on a lifetime subscription for about £700 over 4 years ago - didn't realise it wasn't transferable until I was I started investigating it when I was selling the car.

Nope mine was an extra £200 I think, then the price of activating it on top so I thought it was pointless.

Same with me. I tried several different insurers. Three companies offered between 5% and 10% discount for having a Tracker fitted, but they were all at least 10% more expensive than the cheapest quote I could get elsewhere...

I have a tracker, but the cost to enable it + the annual subscription cost outweighs the drop in the insurance premium.

That is a lot, I just paid £399 for a life time subscription. Again, I would not have bothered had I read all of the above :(

Mine has to work in Scouseland - where the device itself may get nicked :P

But it was near enough £700 to activate & do the lifetime subscription. It's probably gone down since then as they've got more advanced options now, so the basic one is probably cheaper :headbang:

It's paid for, and there's no refunds, so no use worrying about the cost of it now

I phoned TRACKER sales this afternoon and asked them if they knew if any insurers that gave a reduction as per their website. The guy at the other end reeled off half a dozen companies he was sure, gave a discount. I informed him that I have spoken to all of them without getting a penny off the premium. I went on to tell him I had tried RBS owned insurers e.t.c without success and told him of the increase in premiums from some companies. He said he was unaware of this situation and would inform his supervisor. It would be nice to think that TRACKER would get onto it's sister companies and change this absurd situation, I don't think in a month of clichés this will ever happen.

I phoned my insurance company after I fitted a tracker expecting a discount .........
the told me there would be a 135 quid increase, so I told the girl to forget I called .........

A lot of the companies I've tried simply refuse to insure me where I live unless I have a tracker. Doesn't necessarily make it cheaper, just means I have more companies to choose from.

It's a bit like the advanced driving schemes that claim to get you 5-50% discount on insurance. You only get the discount through specific companies, and they're usually not the ones who offer the most competitive prices in the first place, so you spend more to get a discount, which still doesn't bring it to anywhere near your best price from another company.

The other 'scam' is when you are offered 'preferential rates' at one insurer simply for being an employee of another company. I've seen it many times where the quote you get without mentioning the company 'discount code' is lower than when you do mention it.

My car is fitted with a tracker from new. When I renewed my insurance with Admiral and I told them that it had it fitted it actually made the insurance go up due it be something else to pay for if the car was stolen! Trackers are not worth it unless you've got a supercar!
