Other than Saga are their any insurance companies to avoid due to giving poor service.I am about to renew my z4 insurance and have noticed there is a price rise across all the companies .Also is legal protection worth having,I have paid for it year on year and the one time it was needed ,it was a waste of time.

I think you answered your own question there.... :driving:

On the opposite end of the scale, I have only praise for LV & (quite a few years back) the NFU

I had the worst experience with LV had to use their repairer who did such a shoddy job left more of the car needing respraying than before they got it.
After 3 months finally got car sorted with my choice of garage.

That’s a shame - Just got my daily back... no probs... though the other ins co was paying for it inc excess

Cant blame the insurance really for their choice of repairer, but I agree its a bit of a lottery on the quality of the repairs... I've had good and bad - doesn't seem to be any correlation between insurer! Worth doing your own research and choosing the best one for you even if that means you dont get some perks in the meantime. You are left with something that thats not right you'll be annoyed every time you look at it!

I have used NFU for years. We have house and contents insurance with them too. They come No. 1 for customer care just about every year in the AutoExpress annual survey. Depending on where you live, there may be a local office and then you can talk to people face to face. We had to make a claim on the the house insurance this year. They paid without a quibble and the cash was in my bank in less than a week. They are not the cheapest but my experience with them over the years has always been very positive.

Admiral is top of my list to avoid. Not particularly cheap, only interested in how much they can get out of you.

LV are good as said.

You never HAVE to use their repairer. You can take it to any of your choosing.

What’s up with Saga?
I put it that way because I am with saga now.The renewal quote this year was £350 on an e89 s23,last year I paid £220 on a 3.0. Phoned them and the dropped the price by £65 with out any change to the policy.
Comparison sites are coming out £225 with the same excess as Saga, just don't want to end up with a bum insurer.
LV would be favourite but their windscreen excess is £190 :o

Going against the grain here, but not had problems with admiral and generally are the cheapest. Wife has had to deal with them twice, once where the other party was refusing to accept responsibility and the legal protection got that all sorted.

Used two of their repair shops, wife wasn't interested in pushing for a different one, and both were really good. My old car was hit and I had to deal with them, again all straight forward and no issues.

Only negative is the renewal quote being huge each time which a quick call sorts out. But that is pretty much the same with everyone

Can't fault Aviva - claimed twice last year (in three months) for windscreen on my E85 and both times they agreed to OEM glass and gasket (seal) no quibble- they're a big  from me.

I've used Admiral for years, made one claim with them about 10 years ago and they were terrific to deal with.

Im with Admiral on a multicar policy was cheaper than the next nearest quote by quite a bit and when the other half made a claim it was all sorted no problem and the repair was good too

I was with NFU a few years ago. I paid over the odds but I valued having a local office within walking distance.

I later went into the office after someone had hit my car and the staff could not be bothered to help. They will not get any more custom from me. As far as I am concerned they were No ****ing Use.
