Insurance claim, write off maybe, what next?

Sad to see the damage to your car OP.

I hope it can be fixed as 3.0Si Roadsters are quite rare - less than 1,000 came to the UK.

Check on the For Sale page for anything that's breaking or put up a Wanted post for the bits you need.

Does it actually need a new door and wing or can a bodywork monkey sort it?

Not sure. The wing can be saved I think, will need a respray. As for the door, no idea as I'm not an expert but it has been pushed in at the join with the wing.

Photo doesn't show that welll, not sure if it can be pulled back out by an expert.

Not sure how the shipping would work, and if the paint matches but there are panels that you need on sale:

I had very similar damage to my 156 Sportwagon. I think the repair bill was in the order of £2500 and they were planning to reskin the door. It was written off.

So an update.
Uploaded lots of photos of car and insurance company have said it's uneconomical to repair.
Given me an offer of 3899 minus excess (400)

Not done anything yet but will definitely contest their valuation.
I'm collecting screen shots of other z4s for sale and how much they're going for to state what an equivalent replacement car will cost.

Get over to this thread to get door and wing (assuming ok)

Wrong colour but could be an easy repaint then fit to car

As you were crashed into you do have more power and can insist on a repair. Even if it costs them £3800.
Why the excess discount? You don't lose that.

I suggest you start dealing with the other parties insurance company directly.

You only need to let your own company know you were involved in an accident and then deal completely for the rest of the process with the other parties insurance.

The other party has admitted fault yes?

The excess is payable until the claim is settled from what I gather.
The other guy did not claim responsibility 😞 so will have to wait for that to drag on.

Thanks for the advice on dealing with the other insurance company.

Sorry my advice only really helps if the other party has claimed responsibility.
This will drag on ages (weeks at least) and if this is your only car then you may have to settle with dealing with what your own company will offer. :(

Unfortunately I can’t see them offering much more, you can get an independent assessor involved but they are only going to want to pay you to trade in value, as you’ve already said it’s high mileage so unlikely to fetch top value.
It’s really s**t but that’s how insurance companies work!

[ref]dhobbs[/ref], hi mate, a pair of montego blue doors, complete with everything, including mirrors, just popped up on eBay about ten miles from me. If you want them at all let me know PDQ and I'll grab them for you!

Hi enuf_zed
Thanks. Things have changed and I'm claiming through the insurance for a repair.
When I rejected the valuation and the write off, they changed their mind and said they'd fix it.

Bad news is they've appointed a company not local to me and with some bad reviews.
I've requested another quote from a place here in Brighton that has a good reputation so will try and get my company to use them. There will be an excess for that but also peace of mind.

Also seems that it's a no fault claim as my renewal says not at fault. Obviously they didn't tell me this and their website has zero info on the claim :headbang:

Thanks for the fast reply anyway.
I've put a bid in for the pair and will see what happens, so if your situation does change and I get them, let me know.

Will do. My insurance company isn't very forthcoming with any information so I can see this dragging on :(

I put in a cheeky bid for the pair. If I get them I'll speak to you before I move anything on.
