Insurance cheaper than ever !

So I've read lots lately about car insurance increasing, but mine has substantially reduced by 25%

Last year I paid just over £400, I've just renewed and the best I could find was £303 all in, protected no claims, drive any car third party, 8000 miles a year. Perfecto! Couldn't ask for any more!

It pays to search and swap, I did mine for £137 with protected NCB, a low excess and 5k miles. The only upside of being Saga compatible I suppose :)

£190 with unlimited mileage fully comp here. 3.0i. £100 excess.

At least there's perks to getting older.....

Who should I be looking at for a good quote. Mines due Now and my renewal is £575 with a 5000mls restriction….

I have over 14yrs NCB and I have greying air just showing…

Names please..

Come on boys can we have the company names please . And did you declare the mods . They are good quotes , well done .

I used Adrian Flux.

Always start with a confused.com quote as your first price to start against then play Adrian flux off against Chris Knott until one gives up

Ps. Sub £300 and declared all mods

Saga want £252 from me same as you with less than 5k and full no claims.

Age 23
No accidents
No claims
Mrs is on there with 3 points (sp30)
Any car can be driven 3rd party
300 excess
All mods declared
12000 miles
£450 ish fully comp

Adrian Flux.

I was previously insured with Aviva and they were also very competitive

Mine is with Adrian flux so I'm hoping they can improve the quote.. A phone call required …

Top work from the forum.. keep it coming...

been with esure the last 3 years on multicar..i shop around every year and their renewal is always the cheapest..actually chjeaper than their own quote on the comparison sites ..go figure  250ish on the zed fully comp 9 years no claims protected 100 excess all mods declared

My Z4C is currently with Chris Knott - cost £343.50 in June.

I tried Saga because I'm now old and also because they did me a great deal on my E46 325ti, but they were silly money for my Z4.

Just need to play them off against each other every year to get a decent deal - it just p*sses me off that I have to do that. :headbang:

Why can't they just offer a decent price at renewal?

Re my £137 premium I've luckily had no claims for a decade and have managed to avoid points (tempting fate!). I also live in a low risk rated area which all helps I guess. Saga via comparison sites was cheaper than going direct. Adding a 'safe' female driver (or at least one with a clean claims history  ) drops the price, 'tinkering' with employment titles can make a difference and weirdly I found LOWERING the voluntary excess to zero reduced the price on some quotes which makes no sense but it did. Upping mileage sometimes made no difference so is worth trying on the comparison filters :idunno:

One thing I did notice was that having done a round of searches on comparison sites, when I went back a week later to re-check and pick one several prices has gone up and many were now pretty much the same. It seems there are only a handful of actual insurers but they flog insurance under multiple brands which share data, a bit like cheap airline sites when they spot you are interested prices firm up. So it seems you get your best quotes early on and it may be best to grab them. Anybody else noticed this?

My issue ive moved from band A Cumbria to Manchester. I was paying £480 at 26 for my Z4M coupe 8k PY protected NC, £100 excess and all my mods declared, looking to get another and the cheapest I can fine in Manc is more than double that and wanting £800 excess. I was surprised as ive just moved house again in manc and in my old house which was a part of a complex with a shared car park they quoted me over £6000... nearly 30 now been driving for 12 years

Worst bit the GF is 26 and if I take her off its £400 cheaper. All the cheap ones wanted me to put a box in the car. A F*cking box in a Z4M give me a break.

What a joke.

Being Saga eligible a 26 year old girlfriend for £400 a year sounds like a very good deal to me
