Ok, I did not know that. So you get the "free" green card as well nowadays?

Both policy booklets read the same, provides minimum required cover in EU but may charge if you want fully comp as in the UK. max 90days. I think you'd have to ask about non EU..

Excellent advice OP

Budgeted £500 as it was £450 last year for my M3 in February. Renewal quote was £430 I thought excellent I've saved 70 (fuel for 2 days :| ).

Then 3 days before renewal a friend said I should add my wife to the policy so off to a comparison site for a full quote...........£247.

All I did was lower the car price from 67k new to a guess including depreciation of 55k plus added SWMBO. Both mid forties

A few things that lower premiums.
1. As above to add a partner / wife
2. Class 1 business use is now becoming much cheaper, as it's taken that people who use their cars for work are more experienced & so take far fewer risks
3. Heard Cars on own drive are cheaper to insure than in a garage (where a thief is more hidden) & less likely to be noticed missing

Direct Line were the cheapest for multi car for me. Interestingly they don't differentiate between drive/garage/Street as they said so many people lied and it was impossible to prove that the car wasn't just on the street/drive etc for a short time when the incident/theft or whatever occurred
