Inspection II quotes - '06 3.0si

Happy New Year all. I haven't posted for a while but I have been reading and absorbing the info posted on here almost daily.

My Z is due for an inspection II service in the next few months so I've been ringing around for quotes from Indies and Dealers (fairly) local to me.

Here are my findings so far:

Indie BMerc, Barnet, Gtr London £350 +VAT = £420
Indie A1BM, Stevenage, Hertfordshire £269 +VAT = £323
Indie BMWorx, Bedford, Bedforshire £250 +VAT = £299
Dealer Scotthall, Watford, Hertfordshire £560 +VAT = £672


I will post up any more if I decide to shop around further.

Any thoughts on the prices quoted so far? Reasonable? Any other recent prices or quotes that would be of interest?

I would be interested to know if it is from your local. I was staggered, to say the least, when the Service Dept gave me the price!

I was first quoted £370 for an Inspection 1 from main dealer on my old Z4 2.5si who then price matched to £199

OP, remind dealer there is a discount after four years and then get them to price match.
 
I paid £320 at BMW main dealer at Dick Lovett for an inspection 2 as I got them to do a price match well.... reduce it from £380. Indy wanted £280 so not bad :)
 
I'm kind of scratching my head at the dealer price when a quote of £370 and £380 have been posted. I did ask why the price was almost double that of the Indies I had contacted and I was told it was mostly down to the hourly rates of their engineers.

Still seems on the pricey side...
 
I have seen a few outer london forum members say this before as I had a little look on the forum before getting the work done, Swindon BMW Main dealer quote £380.00 on their website , and will go as low as £320 so I think there chancing it at £560! p.s had it done in Dec 2011 so fairly recent :thumbsup:
 
Your quote of £299 seems good. I tend to find that they always uncover more work as they do the inspection, which adds to the bill :headbang:

I paid £315 for inspection 2 from my local dealer a few months ago. They price matched other dealers prices.There first qoute was £480 untill i told them my price from other dealers allbeit a distance away. All dealers should price match.

I thought I would follow up on this thread with a write up of my experience of the Inspection 2 service for my Z.

I decided in the end to go with A1BM in Stevenage and I believe I made a good decision.

Firstly, the price was, in my opinion, reasonable. Throughout the process the staff were incredibly polite and courteous. A1BM provided a free courtesy car whilst my car was in the workshop and to top it off when they plugged my car into the diagnostics machine, they talked me through all the iDrive options, some of which I have had changed.

A really personal service off which I have already booked my car in with them for some minor warranty work which they handled with the warranty company on my behalf.

The man to talk to is Ed - if you're thinking of using them. First class customer service.

Hope this helps anyone in the area looking for a reliable Indy. :thumbsup:
 
I'll second that about A1 in Stevenage. Really good customer service. Nice to be talked through what they're doing. :)
 
F1ADAM, did they do it for the price quoted, or dd they find 'extras' ?

Mine is due an inspection 2 in a couple and a half k miles, but I am going to get an oil service and brake fluid change very soon because records re a tad patchy... An Indy close to me with a good rep and BMW master mechanics quoted about £160 for both, and said they would include a 'health check' that BMW usually charge £60 for to highlight anything else that might need done in the future. Seemed like a good deal to me as I don't want any surprises...

They did find a broken ignition coil which was £30 but they didn't charge me labour.

They gave me the broken part and showed me why they had to replace it.
