Just booked my car in for:

Service (Inspection II) including:
Oil Change
Brake Fluid Service
Gearbox oil change
Key coding (roof operation)

All for £320 inclusive.

This seem like a good price? This is at a good bmw indy garage, always had them work on my TT as they work on anything german, but specialise in BMW. One thing, he hadn't heard of the CDV delete. He said if I provide the braided hose/modified CDV he'd fit it.

Seem like a good price?

I also found the garages I spoke to didnt seem to know about the CDV delete, but again all were happy to fit if I supplied the parts.

Gearbox Oil change, I thought these were sealed for life.

Nope, there have been a few posts recently about the gearbox oil being changed and it improving gear changes.

Seems a little expensice to me ?.....i know the indi you are refering to as they have done some work on my E46 coupe that i had. He charged me £20 for the roof operation coding but i am not sure about the rest ?. Have you called the main dealer just for a comparison ?. Its going to be more obviously, but i would be interested how much more ?

I just paid £200 for an inspection 1 at an indi. So that's another £120 for brakefluid, gearbox oil and key coding...doesn't seem to bad.

Checked with the garage, its an Inspection II.

Stopped off at BMW on the way home, they wanted around £600 all in, but said it wasn't possible to code the key to raise the roof

So all in all, £320 seems a good price! :D

For anyone in the area, the garage is Autologic in Hessle.

Had the service on monday, along with the key coding. Car is nice and refreshed, the gearbox oil change has definitely improved 1st and 2nd gear changes.

The roof up from the key function is such a worthwhile mod! 8)

Down side is they informed me my front pads are almost all gone (sensors disconnected?!) but braking is fine still, and the rear discs are corroded and also need replacing :?

So now I'm thinking 325mm Ultimax fronts and ultimax rears for a bit of an improvement. Worth adding braided hoses?

What do they do exactly? Do they give you a seperate switch or configure your current key?

God I wish my M Insp.II would come to that. Got to book mine in in the next month, and got a feeling it'll be about 3x as much!

CDV is a part that is removed, not altered. They should simply be able to remove the offending part from the line (iirc)

Also worth maybe getting the diff oil done too. I'm just about to send my car in for oils front to back, and will see about the CDV while they are there too :)

CDV is modified then re-fitted AFAIK.

Just recode your current key :D

to which button(s)?

Recode the open button to lower the roof (if it doesnt already) when held down. Same for lock button, to raise roof when held.

Yep, either a modified CDV, (internal part removed) or a replacement braided pipe.

Ah ok, I thought the CDV was just a solid extension with a constricted throughput, that could just be taken out of the hydraulic run.

Hmmm

What part is it on here? 16?

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E85/Roadster/Europe/Z4_3.0i-M54/RHD/N/2004/june/browse/clutch/clutch_control/

Worth buying one, modifying it, then swapping it over.

Dave

Yep looks like no. 16

Yes you can DIY remove the offending inner piece, theres a DIY thread on here to explain just how to do it.

You can also send 2 new ones to a company that then send you one modified one in return.

Also, as said, theres a braided pipe. The part no. was listed in a post on here if you search for cdv.

Thanks

I've had a quote for £950, mine's next too, but only just had the oil done so it's a little way off.

Reckon there could be a Ins II /M Pricewar topic coming up soon
